  1. 6. Bone Regeneration with Cell-free Injectable Scaffolds

    Författare :Gry Hulsart Billström; Sune Larsson; Kenneth B Jonsson; Jöns Hilborn; Håkan Engqvist; Olle Svensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone tissue engineering; hydrogel; computed tomography; positron emission tomography; large femoral bone defect; rat model; hydrogel; in vivo; osteogenesis; bone regeneration; 3R; single-photon emission computed tomography; bone morphogenetic protein 2; calcium phosphates; injectable; bisphosphonate;

    Sammanfattning : Bone is a remarkable multifunctional tissue with the ability to regenerate and remodel without generating any scar tissue. However, bone loss due to injury or diseases can be a great challenge and affect the patient significantly. Autologous bone grafting is commonly used throughout the world. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Improved titanium and steel implants : Studies on bisphosphonate, strontium and surface treatments

    Författare :Paula Linderbäck; Pentti Tengvall; Per Aspenberg; Håkan Engqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: The general aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of biomaterial surface modifications and local delivery of osteoporosis drugs for bone integration. We therefore (i) characterised and investigated model surface coatings for controlled drug delivery in a rat tibia screw model (ii) elucidated the effect of surface treatment for activation of complement system in vitro. 3. 8. Surface bound bisphosphonate for implant fixation in bone

    Författare :Karin Wermelin; Per Aspenberg; Pentti Tengvall; Jan Eirik Ellingsen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : During the surgical preparation of bone, prior to insertion of an implant, bone will be traumatized which leads to local resorption. Consequently, early implant fixation might be reduced. Impaired early fixation, as evidenced by radiostereometry, has been associated with increased risk of late loosening. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Developmental disturbances of cementum induced by 1-hydroxyethylidene-1, 1-bisphosphonate (HEBP) : experimental studies on rats

    Författare :Idil Alatli Burt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :dental cementum; dentin; rat molar; bisphosphonate; mineralization; scanningelectron microscopy; immunohistochemistry; epithelial root sheath.Repro Print AB; Stockholm 1996;

    Sammanfattning : By studying the mechanism(s) behind experimentally induced developmental disturbances of a tissue, it may be possible to gain information about its normal development. Cementum seems to be the least understood of the dental tissues, and there are very few studies in which its development has been experimentally altered. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Bisphosphonate treatment of children and adolescents with osteogenesis imperfecta : effects on clinical symptoms and bone turnover

    Författare :Eva Åström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a group of genetic diseases with a wide spectrum of severity, ranging from very mild bone fragility to lethal forms. Without treatment the more severe forms have multiple fractures leading to progressive bone deformities with extreme shortness, frequent skeletal pain and immobilisation. LÄS MER
