21. Studies of magnetic multi-core nanoparticles for biomedical applications
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been growing interest in using magnetic multi-core nanoparticles in biomedical applications, and particularly in bioseparation and biosensing. In this thesis, two computer simulation techniques have been implemented to study the magnetic response of these particles, and a microfluidic platform has been fabricated to manipulate bio-functionalized magnetic particles in suspension for immunoassays. 22. Data-Driven Methods for Microwave Sensor Devices in Musculoskeletal Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Microwave sensors can be used within medicine as they use non-ionizing radiation, are often low cost, and can be designed for a specific purpose. The application of microwave sensors for diagnostics and monitoring can be improved using appropriate data analysis. The multi-layered structure of the human body makes the measurements on people complex. LÄS MER
23. On Identification of Biological Systems
Sammanfattning : System identification finds nowadays application in various areas of biological research as a tool of empiric mathematical modeling and model individualization. A fundamental challenge of system identification in biology awaits in the form of response variability. LÄS MER
24. Hybrid observers for systems with intrinsic pulse-modulated feedback
Sammanfattning : Dynamical processes resulting from the interaction of continuous and discrete dynamics are often encountered in living organisms. Time evolutions of such processes constitute continuous variables that are subject to instant changes at discrete points of time. LÄS MER
25. Cold-Electron Bolometers fabricated with Direct Write Technology for Microwave Receiver systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of microwave detector technology for cosmology instruments and THz imaging, including fabrication of SIN tunnel junctions for thermometry and bolometric detectors, and also phase switch circuits as a part of integrated microwave receiver systems. Cold-Electron Bolometers (CEB) based on Superconductor-Insulator-Normal metal (SIN) tunnel junctions have been developed for employment in sub-millimeter astronomical receivers. LÄS MER
