    Författare :Vincent Schaller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metropolis algorithm; magnetic bioseparation; Monte Carlo method; Brownian dynamics; magnetic immunoassays; Magnetic multi-core nanoparticles; digital microfluidics; electrowetting-on-dielectric EWOD ;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been growing interest in using magnetic multi-core nanoparticles in biomedical applications, and particularly in bioseparation and biosensing. In this thesis, two computer simulation techniques have been implemented to study the magnetic response of these particles, and a microfluidic platform has been fabricated to manipulate bio-functionalized magnetic particles in suspension for immunoassays. Författare :Viktor Mattsson; Robin Augustine; Mauricio D. Perez; Roger Karlsson; Paul Meaney; Joseph Costantine; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Learning; Microwave Sensors; Data-Driven Modeling; Statistical Analysis; Maskininlärning; Mikrovågssensorer; Datadriven modellering; Statistisk Analys; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : Microwave sensors can be used within medicine as they use non-ionizing radiation, are often low cost, and can be designed for a specific purpose. The application of microwave sensors for diagnostics and monitoring can be improved using appropriate data analysis. The multi-layered structure of the human body makes the measurements on people complex. LÄS MER

  3. 23. On Identification of Biological Systems

    Författare :Egi Hidayat; Alexander Medvedev; Peter Stoica; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; system identification; biomedical systems; insect vision; endocrine systems; orthogonal basis functions; time delay; impulse response; Laguerre functions; Laguerre polynomials; excitation design; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : System identification finds nowadays application in various areas of biological research as a tool of empiric mathematical modeling and model individualization. A fundamental challenge of system identification in biology awaits in the form of response variability. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Hybrid observers for systems with intrinsic pulse-modulated feedback

    Författare :Diana Yamalova; Alexander Medvedev; Xiaoming Hu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hybrid systems; impulsive systems; biomedical systems; Goodwin s oscillator; observers; time-delay; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamical processes resulting from the interaction of continuous and discrete dynamics are often encountered in living organisms. Time evolutions of such processes constitute continuous variables that are subject to instant changes at discrete points of time. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Cold-Electron Bolometers fabricated with Direct Write Technology for Microwave Receiver systems

    Författare :Ernst Otto; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of microwave detector technology for cosmology instruments and THz imaging, including fabrication of SIN tunnel junctions for thermometry and bolometric detectors, and also phase switch circuits as a part of integrated microwave receiver systems. Cold-Electron Bolometers (CEB) based on Superconductor-Insulator-Normal metal (SIN) tunnel junctions have been developed for employment in sub-millimeter astronomical receivers. LÄS MER
