  1. 1. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems : Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    Författare :Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    Författare :Linda Åmand; Bengt Carlsson; Peter Vanrolleghem; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 3. 3. Mathematical modeling for optimization of Deep Brain Stimulation

    Författare :Rubén Cubo; Alexander Medvedev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) consists of sending mild electric stimuli to the brain via a chronically implanted lead. The therapy is used to alleviate the symptoms of different neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's Disease. However, its underlying biological mechanism is currently unknown. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Linear Quadratic Gaussian Controllers for Feedforward Active Noise Control : Pushing Performance and Moving Towards Adaptive Control

    Författare :Annea Barkefors; Mikael Sternad; Anders Ahlén; Lars-Johan Brännmark; Bengt Carlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active noise control; ANC; LQG; feedforward control; sound field control; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Active noise control is a research area focused on using destructive interference of sound fields to attenuate undesired noise. Methods for active noise control are best suited for low frequency noise, as the complexity of the problem grows rapidly with frequency. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : General anesthesia is a drug-induced reversible state where neuromuscular blockade (NMB), hypnosis, and analgesia (jointly denoted by depth of anesthesia - DoA) are guaranteed. This thesis concerns mathematical modeling and feedback control of the effect of the muscle relaxants atracurium and rocuronium, the hypnotic propofol, and the analgesic remifentanil. LÄS MER
