21. Spectral signature measurements and image processing for geological remote sensing
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on (i) spectral signatures of rocks and lichens, and on the use of satellite images for (ii) survey mapping of areas dominated by exposed bedrock, (iii) bedrock mapping and mineral prospecting.(i) Laboratory measurements demonstrate that a lichen cover can significantly mask the spectral reflectance of rocks. 22. Systematics of Echiochilon and Ogastemma (Boraginaceae), and the Phylogeny of Boraginoideae
Sammanfattning : Echiochilon, Ogastemma and Sericostoma are revised resulting in the recognition of 15 species of Echiochilon and one Ogastemma species. Several species are placed in synonymy and three new species are described, E. baricum, E. callianthum and E. LÄS MER
23. Crustal evolution of the Arabian–Nubian Shield : Insights from zircon geochronology and Nd–Hf–O isotopes
Sammanfattning : The Arabian–Nubian Shield (ANS) represents a major site of juvenile Neoproterozoic crustal addition on Earth and documents Neoproterozoic tectonics bracketed by two supercontinent cycles, namely the fragmentation of Rodinia and the amalgamation of Gondwana. There is general consensus that the ANS formed by juvenile magmatic arc accretion and subsequent shield–wide post–tectonic magmatism. LÄS MER
24. Papillon Le-Fèvre Syndrome : associations to clinical and laboratory factors and results of treatment
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate factors possibly contributing to the rapidly progressing periodontitis in a group of Papillon-Lefèvre syndrome (PLS) patients and to evaluate a combined mechanical and antimicrobial treatment model in these patients. The total patient sample consisted of 20 individuals referred to King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia for treatment of PLS. LÄS MER
25. Rift Valley fever : challenges and new insights for prevention and control using the “One Health” approach
Sammanfattning : Rift Valley fever (RVF) is an emerging viral zoonosis that causes frequent outbreaks in east Africa and on the Arabian Peninsula. The likelihood of RVF global expansion due to climate change and human anthropogenic factors is an important issue. LÄS MER
