1. Systematics of Echiochilon and Ogastemma (Boraginaceae), and the Phylogeny of Boraginoideae
Sammanfattning : Echiochilon, Ogastemma and Sericostoma are revised resulting in the recognition of 15 species of Echiochilon and one Ogastemma species. Several species are placed in synonymy and three new species are described, E. baricum, E. callianthum and E. LÄS MER
2. Evolution of Spur Length in a Moth-pollinated Orchid
Sammanfattning : There is considerable evidence that pollinator shifts can explain many differences in flower morphology between closely related plant species, but the extent to which pollinator shifts can explain the maintenance of among-population variation in floral traits within species is poorly known. In this thesis, I combined comparative and experimental approaches to examine the evolution of floral traits in the moth-pollinated orchid Platanthera bifolia. LÄS MER
3. Evolutionary relationships in Thunbergioideae and other early branching lineages of Acanthaceae
Sammanfattning : Acanthaceae as circumscribed today consists of the three subfamilies Acanthoideae (Acanthaceae sensu stricto), Thunbergioideae and Nelsoniodieae, plus the genus Avicennia. Due to the morphological dissimilarities of Thunbergioideae and Nelsonioideae, the delimitation of the family has been controversial. LÄS MER
4. Palynology of Hypochoeridinae and Scolyminae (Compositae)
Sammanfattning : Pollen grains of 35 species representing all 7 genera of the subtribe Hypochoeridinae, and Scolymus hispanicus of the subtribe Scolyminae were examined by LM, SEM and TEM. The pollen grains of annual species are usually smaller than those of perennial ones. The Hypochoeridinae possesses essentially tricolpororate, echinolophate pollen grains. LÄS MER
5. MADS-Box Gene Phylogeny and the Evolution of Plant Form : Characterisation of a Family of Regulators of Reproductive Development from the Conifer Norway Spruce, Picea abies
Sammanfattning : The evolutionary relationships between the angiosperm floral organs and the reproductive organs of other seed plants is not known. Flower organ development requires transcription factors encoded by the MADS-box genes. LÄS MER
