  1. 1. Dual Targeting of Proteins to Mitochondria and Chloroplasts

    Författare :Anna-Karin Berglund; Elzbieta Glaser; Ophry Pines; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The vast majority of mitochondrial and chloroplastic proteins are nuclear encoded, synthesized in the cytosol and imported into the respective organelle using an N-terminal extension, the targeting peptide (TP). After import into the organelle, the TP is cleaved off and degraded by the Presequence protease (PreP). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetic Studies of Alzheimer's Disease

    Författare :Elin Blom; Anna Glaser; Martin Ingelsson; Lars Lannfelt; Jan Hillert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; Linkage; Affected sib-pairs; APOE; APP duplication; 10q21; 19q13; Wnt signaling; Geriatrics and medical gerontology; Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) often have a family history of the disease, implicating genetics as a major risk factor. Three genes are currently known to cause familial early-onset AD (65 years), only the APOE gene has repeatedly been associated to AD, where the ε4 allele increases disease risk and decreases age at onset. 3. 3. Molecular Mechanisms of Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration

    Författare :Lena Skoglund; Anna Glaser; Martin Ingelsson; Lars Lannfelt; Stuart Pickering-Brown; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Frontotemporal lobar degeneration; Frontotemporal dementia; Tau; Progranulin; Alternative splicing; Nonsense-mediated decay; Haploinsufficiency;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify genetic factors involved in frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), a neurodegenerative disorder clinically characterised by a progressive change in personality, behaviour and language. FTLD is a genetically complex disorder and a positive family history is found in up to 40% of the cases. LÄS MER

  4. 4. PARENTS´ EXPERIENCES AND REACTIONS WHEN AN UNEXPECTED FINDING IN THEIR FOETUS IS REVEALED AT A ROUTINE ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION

    Författare :Anna-Karin Larsson; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe parent’s experiences, reactions and needs in connection with a routine ultrasound examination during pregnancy when the foetus was found to have an abnormal ultrasound finding. The data collection began in February 2005 and the one year cohort study was completed by March 2006. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Information exchange in paediatric care

    Författare :Eva Mårtenson Wikström; Carina Berterö; Astrid Fägerskiöld; Karin Anna Petersen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ethical demand; Grounded theory; Information exchange; Paediatric care; Qualitative content analysis; Simultaneous concept analysis; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Information exchange is an essential component for all involved in the paediatric care encounter. Despite this, most of the research about information exchange concerns adults and the significance of the child’s existence in the encounter have not been given sufficient attention. Therefore, the overall aims of this thesis were twofold. LÄS MER
