1. Ecological drivers and genetic signatures of evolutionary divergence and local adaptation in pike (Esox lucius)
Sammanfattning : The diversity among species, populations, and individuals in nature is astonishing. Genetic and phenotypic variation constitutes the raw material for evolution. It influences how populations respond to changing environments, and can impact long-term survival of species and ecosystem functioning. LÄS MER
2. Health related quality of life and swallowing problems in oesophageal cancer
Sammanfattning : Poor overall survival, swallowing problems and severe side-effects from multi-modality treatment characterize the situation of patients with oesophageal and gastro oesophageal junction carcinoma (GOJ). With the poor prognosis and abundance of symptoms in this disease it is particularly important to consider health-related quality of life (HRQoL) as an important outcome in clinical decision-making. 3. Noise diagnostics of Stationary and Non-Stationary Reactor Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the application of noise diagnostics on different problems in the area of reactor physics involving both stationary and non-stationary core processes. Five different problems are treated, divided into three different parts. LÄS MER
4. Water and Protein Dynamics in Biological Systems Studied by Magnetic Relaxation Dispersion
Sammanfattning : The results presented in this thesis demonstrate that the magnetic relaxation dispersion (MRD) technique can provide information of relevance to protein biophysics, magnetic resonance imaging and cell biology. By immobilizing proteins with covalent cross-links, intermittent protein dynamics on the previously inaccessible ns-µs time scale could be probed with MRD via the exchange of water molecules between internal cavities and the surrounding bulk solvent phase. 5. Wavelet and Spectral Analysis of Some Selected Problems in Reactor Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Both spectral and wavelet analysis were successfully used in various diagnostic problems involving non-stationary core processes in nuclear power reactors. Three different problems were treated: two-phase flow identification, detector tube impacting and core-barrel vibrations. LÄS MER
