1. Multivariate Analysis of 2D-NMR Spectroscopy : Applications in wood science and metabolomics
Sammanfattning : Wood is our most important renewable resource. We need better quality and quantity both according to the wood itself and the processes that are using wood as a raw material. Hence, the understanding of the chemical composition of the wood is of high importance. LÄS MER
2. Investigating cellulose structure using solid-state NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Cellulose is the most abundant polymer in nature and it is an important constituent in most flowers, trees, and even some animals. Cellulose has an established use in many important products, such as textile fibers, paper and paperboard, and recently new applications have received increased attention. LÄS MER
3. Prostate Cancer Diagnosis : experimental and Clinical Studies With HRMAS NMR Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : A few abnormal cells found in a small piece of prostate tissue are most consequential for a man’s future. The prevalence of prostate cancer (PCa) is increasing globally. LÄS MER
4. Solid-State NMR Characterization of Lipid Membranes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the study of lipid bilayer systems by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. Two-dimensional 1H-13C separated local field experiments under magic-angle spinning were employed to investigate structural and dynamical modifications of cell membranes, resulting from the addition of compounds with some biological relevance. 5. Engineering of the Ultra-stable Cystine Knot Framework of Microproteins : Design, Chemical Synthesis and Structural Studies
Sammanfattning : Ultra-stable cystine knotted microproteins, in which two disulfides and their connecting backbones form a circle that is penetrated by the third disulfide bonds, have attracted high interest due to their resistance to degradation in vitro and potential for the development of peptide drugs. This thesis gives new insights into engineering of that framework of microproteins, including approaches to their chemical synthesis, backbone engineering, structural and biological evaluations.
