36. Arc evaporated wear-resistant nitride coatings for metal cutting tools
Sammanfattning : This Thesis is dedicated to increase the understanding of arc evaporated PVD coatings as wear resistant layers on metal cutting tools. The approach is to study coatings that have excellent performance in metal cutting applications, specifically (Ti,Al)N and (Ti,Si)N in terms of thermal and mechanical properties, and to correlate this to their microstructure, stress state, and composition. 37. Simulation of additive manufacturing using a mechanism based plasticity model
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents finite element (FE) simulations of additive manufacturing (AM) and physically based material modeling of alloy 625 and alloy 718. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in AM and there has been a dramatic increase in publications in the field. LÄS MER
38. The influence of microstructure on mechanical and tribological properties of lamellar and compacted irons in engine applications
Sammanfattning : Lamellar graphite iron (LGI) is commonly used in diesel engine applications such as piston rings–cylinder liner where an excellent combination of physical and tribological properties is essential to avoid scuffing and bore polishing issues. The excellent tribological behaviour of LGI alloys is related to the graphite lamellas, which act as solid lubricant agents by feeding onto the tribosurfaces under sliding conditions. LÄS MER
39. The mechanical wear of tuyere refractory and stirring plugs in BOF steelmaking
Sammanfattning : Water modelling investigations of pressure change at tuyere tip or back attack and wear of H3B03 disks, as well as high temperature modelling wear tests of BOF refractory using single- or double-tuyere and Ar or N2 gas, have been carried out to study mechanisms for mechanical wear of the refractory for BOF stirring tuyeres and plugs. A new nominal Mach number, M*', was defined and adopted as the criterion for correlating test data. LÄS MER
40. Enhanced heat transfer and tool wear in high-pressure coolant assisted turning of alloy 718
Sammanfattning : Heat generated in a machining process is a common and critical obstacle faced in today's manufacturing industries. The heat generated in the cutting zone has adirect negative influence on the tool life, which, in turn contributes to increasing the manufacturing costs. LÄS MER
