16. The structure of phenol hydroxylase and its relation to other flavoenzymes
Sammanfattning : The NADPH-dependent flavin monooxygenase phenol hydroxylase catalyses the first step in the microbial degradation pathway of phenol and several phenol derivatives. It catalyses the introduction of a hydroxyl group in the ortho-position on the aromatic ring. LÄS MER
17. Genes encoding homeodomain-leucine zipper proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana
Sammanfattning : A new class of transcription factors, the homeodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) proteins, have been identified in Arabidopsis thaliana. These proteins contain a homeodomainfollowed by a leucine-zipper motif, a combination so far only found in plants. LÄS MER
18. Site and Mechanism of Action of Resin Acids on Voltage-Gated Ion Channels
Sammanfattning : Voltage-gated ion channels are pore-forming membrane proteins that open or close their gates when the voltage across the membrane is changed. They underlie the electrical activity that enables the heart to pump blood and the brain to receive and send signals. LÄS MER
19. Multiple regulatory inputs for hierarchical control of phenol catabolism by Pseudomonas putida
Sammanfattning : Metabolically versatile bacteria have evolved diverse strategies to adapt to different environmental niches and respond to fluctuating physico-chemical parameters. In order to survive in soil and water habitats, they employ specific and global regulatory circuits to integrate external and internal signals to counteract stress and optimise their energy status. 20. Computer simulations of ribosome reactions
Sammanfattning : Peptide bond formation and translational termination on the ribosome have been simulated by molecular mechanics, free energy perturbation, empirical valence bond (MD/FEP/EVB) and automated docking methods. Recent X-ray crystallographic data is used here to calculate the entire free energy surface for the system complete with substrates, ribosomal groups, solvent molecules and ions. LÄS MER
