17. Cataract from ultraviolet radiation in the mouse
Sammanfattning : Cataract is defined as an opacification of the crystalline lens that results in visual impairment, Cataract is the number one cause of blindness in the world and there are currently no strategies to prevent it. Extraction of cataractogenous lenses is the most commonly performed surgical intervention in industrialized countries. LÄS MER
18. An Intense Attosecond Light Source - Towards Extreme Ultraviolet Pump-Probe Experiments
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents important steps towards performing high-intensity attosecond pump-probe experiments at the Lund high-intensity extreme ultraviolet (XUV) beamline, which followed two complementary paths: maximization of the XUV intensity available in the interaction region with a gas target, and providing attosecond temporal resolution. To maximize the energy of the XUV pulses generated via high-order harmonicgeneration (HHG), the macroscopic response of atoms to the driving infrared field was optimized. 19. Investigation of Ultrafast Molecular Dynamics via Covariance Mapping : A Tool for Intense XUV Light Sources
Sammanfattning : The study of molecular dynamics involves observations of the motion of nuclei and electrons. While nuclear motion is usually on the picosecond or femtosecond timescale, attosecond precision is necessary to directly observe the motion of electrons. LÄS MER
20. Light interactions in flexible conjugated dyes
Sammanfattning : In this thesis methodological developments have been made for the description of flexible conjugated dyes in room temperature spectrum calculations. The methods in question target increased accuracy and efficiency by combining classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with time-dependent response theory spectrum calculations.
