16. Numerical studies of transtion in wall-bounded flows
Sammanfattning : Disturbances introduced in wall-bounded flows can grow and lead to transition from laminar to turbulent flow. In order to reduce losses or enhance mixing in energy systems, a fundamental understanding of the flow stability and transition mechanism is important. LÄS MER
17. Turbulence Structure and Fluxes over Sea
Sammanfattning : Understanding the processes that control air-sea exchange of momentum, sensible heat and moisture (latent heat) is of great importance for atmospheric and oceanic modelling. In the atmosphere, for instance, cyclone intensity and track depends on these processes. LÄS MER
18. The exchange of sensible and latent heat over the sea
Sammanfattning : Analysis of the neutral exchange coefficients for latent and sensible heat, CEN and CHN, based on measurements from the Östergarnsholms site in the Baltic Sea has been made. The data set used for the CHN study was based on the very accurate MIUU-instrument. LÄS MER
19. Measurements and Prediction of Friction Drag of Rough Surfaces
Sammanfattning : Owing to the increased sea transportation of goods, the environmental impacts of this activity are becoming more and more important, since a ship experiences resistance that directly affects its performance and fuel consumption. The growth of marine organisms (fouling) on ship hulls increases the roughness of the hull surface, which in turn causes a rise in ship resistance with a consequent increase in fuel consumption and greenhouse emissions of up to 40%. 20. Feedback and adjoint based control of boundary layer flows
Sammanfattning : Linear and nonlinear optimal control have been investigated in transitional channel and boundary layer .ows. The flow phenomena that we study are governed by the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and the main aim with the control is to prevent transition from laminar to turbulent flows. LÄS MER
