  1. 16. Numerical studies of transtion in wall-bounded flows

    Författare :Ori Levin; Dan Henningson; Nikolaus Adams; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary layer; suction; wall jet; streaks; waves; periodic disturbance; localized disturbance; turbulent spot; algebraic growth; exponential growth; stability; transition thresholds; transition prediction; PSE; DNS; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Disturbances introduced in wall-bounded flows can grow and lead to transition from laminar to turbulent flow. In order to reduce losses or enhance mixing in energy systems, a fundamental understanding of the flow stability and transition mechanism is important. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Turbulence Structure and Fluxes over Sea

    Författare :Erik Nilsson; Anna Rutgersson; Mark Kelly; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boundary-layer; Air-sea interaction; turbulent fluxes; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the processes that control air-sea exchange of momentum, sensible heat and moisture (latent heat) is of great importance for atmospheric and oceanic modelling. In the atmosphere, for instance, cyclone intensity and track depends on these processes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The exchange of sensible and latent heat over the sea

    Författare :Erik Sahlée; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boundary-layer; Air-sea interaction; turbulent fluxes; parameterization; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Analysis of the neutral exchange coefficients for latent and sensible heat, CEN and CHN, based on measurements from the Östergarnsholms site in the Baltic Sea has been made. The data set used for the CHN study was based on the very accurate MIUU-instrument. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Measurements and Prediction of Friction Drag of Rough Surfaces

    Författare :Bercelay Niebles Atencio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PIV; RANS; Turbulent Boundary Layers; Flat Plate; Resolved CFD; Hydrodynamics; Roughness Function; Wall Functions; Rotating Disk;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to the increased sea transportation of goods, the environmental impacts of this activity are becoming more and more important, since a ship experiences resistance that directly affects its performance and fuel consumption. The growth of marine organisms (fouling) on ship hulls increases the roughness of the hull surface, which in turn causes a rise in ship resistance with a consequent increase in fuel consumption and greenhouse emissions of up to 40%. 5. 20. Feedback and adjoint based control of boundary layer flows

    Författare :Mattias Chevalier; Dan Henningson; Jean-Marc Chomaz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; fluid and plasma; mechanical engineering; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Linear and nonlinear optimal control have been investigated in transitional channel and boundary layer .ows. The flow phenomena that we study are governed by the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and the main aim with the control is to prevent transition from laminar to turbulent flows. LÄS MER
