6. Mass-Transport through Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Many of the products in our daily life consist of layered structures, where packaging materials and wound care products can be mentioned as examples. These structures often consist of different kind of polymeric materials and between these materials interfaces are formed. LÄS MER
7. Transport of mineral dust into the Arctic : Evaluation of two reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the mineral dust aerosol transport into the Arctic. Two three-dimensional reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition, the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service reanalysis (CAMSRA) and the Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA-2), are analyzed with regard to dust transport into the Arctic. 8. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors
Sammanfattning : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation. 9. Modelling and measuring transport in fusion plasmas
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis we consider theoretical and experimental aspects of the turbulent transport which is a crucial issue in fusion plasma physics.Experimental observations and gyrokinetic simulations show that collisions strongly influence the turbulent flux of particles. LÄS MER
10. Monitoring transport and fate of de-icing salt in the roadside environment : Modelling and field measurements
Sammanfattning : Roads and traffic are a major non-point source of pollutants and may have severe impacts on surface water, groundwater, soil and vegetation. In cold climates, de-icing salt is one such pollutant that may cause increased chloride concentrations and induce other effects on the environment. LÄS MER
