21. Dynamic Source Models of Icelandic Earthquakes and Teleseismic Tomograhy along the TOR array
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes new inversion-oriented methodological developments and their seismological applications. In the first study presented the dynamic source parameters of some local Icelandic earthquakes are studied by employing a time domain moment tensor inversion method. LÄS MER
22. Smoothed particle hydrodynamics in hydropower applications : modeling of hydraulic jumps
Sammanfattning : In present thesis, the Lagrangian particle based method Smoothed ParticleHydrodynamics (SPH) is used to model two-dimensional problems associated with hydropower applications such as dam break evolution and hydraulic jumps. In the SPHmethod, the fluid domain is represented by a set of non-connected particles which possess individual material properties such as mass, density, velocity, position and pressure. LÄS MER
23. On some positive effects of swirling flow for the continuous cast mould billets
Sammanfattning : Continuous caster moulds are the last and most important stage in the steelmaking process, where inclusions can either be generated or removed. With increasing casting speed using conventional immersion nozzles critical problems, such as unstable bulk mould flow have been noticed. LÄS MER
24. Waves and instabilities through the lens of asymptotic analysis
Sammanfattning : Understanding the interaction of water waves with winds and marine currents is a fundamental problem in geophysical fluid dynamics. From the point of view of hydrodynamic stability, surface waves are regarded as perturbations of an inviscid parallel shear flow modeling the wind in the air and the current in the water. LÄS MER
25. Lamb wave evaluation of concrete plates
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about the application of Lamb waves for non-destructive evaluation of plate-like concrete structures under one-sided access test condition using a portable equipment consisting of an accelerometer and impact hammer. With this type of equipment and based on array signal processing, the impact-echo (IE) method can be extended with measurements of surface waves; this extension allows an evaluation with Lamb waves.
