26. Smooth Schubert varieties and boolean complexes of involutions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is composed of two papers both in algebraic combinatorics and Coxeter groups. In Paper I, we concentrate on smoothness of Schubert varieties indexed by involutions from finite simply laced types. LÄS MER
27. Effects of Hemoglobin Normalization with Epoetin in Chronic Kidney Disease
Sammanfattning : Anemia is common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CDK), contributes to reduced Quality of Life (QoL) and is associated with cardiovascular disease, morbidity and mortality. Epoetin raises hemoglobin (Hb) and increases QoL and physical exercise capacity. LÄS MER
28. Perceived Physical and Psychological Outcome After Severe Burn Injury
Sammanfattning : There is very little data on physical and psychological long-term outcome after severe burn injury. The aim of the present thesis was to improve current instruments for assessment of these issues, to assess long-term outcome in a cohort of patients with burn injuries, and to explore the contribution of the individual factors of personality and coping on perceived outcome. 29. Ekedahl Invariants, Veronese Modules and Linear Recurrence Varieties
Sammanfattning : The title of this thesis refers to the three parts of which it is composed. The first part concerns the Ekedahl Invariants, new geometric invariants for finite groups introduced in 2009 by Torsten Ekedahl. LÄS MER
30. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis
Sammanfattning : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes.
