6. Development of a new service-oriented modelling method for information systems analysis and design
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new modelling method for information systems analysis and design, where the concept of service and the principles of service orientation are used for integrated modelling and reasoning about information systems architectures across organisational and technical systems boundaries. The concept of service enables cohesion of the intersubjective and objective modelling traditions by using a single type of diagram that facilitates detection of semantic inconsistency, incompleteness, ambiguity and discontinuity between the static and dynamic aspects of information systems specifications. 7. Machine-Printed and Handwritten Ethiopic Script Recognition
Sammanfattning : A written language is represented by using machine-printed or handwritten symbols called characters. For automatic recognition of written languages, handwritten script can be captured offline (by a scanner) and online (by electronic digital devices), whereas machine-printed text is captured offline. 8. Structural and functional properties of transthyretin
Sammanfattning : The hereditary transthyretin (TTR) amyloidoses are rare, and in severe cases, fatal disorders caused by mutations in the TTR gene. The clinical picture is diverse, involving neuropathies and myopathies, and mainly depends on the causative mutation and the sites and rates of amyloid deposition. LÄS MER
9. Automated Subject Classification of Textual Documents in the Context of Web-Based Hierarchical Browsing
Sammanfattning : With the exponential growth of the World Wide Web, automated subject classification has become a major research issue. Organizing web pages into a hierarchical structure for subject browsing has been gaining more recognition as an important tool in information-seeking processes. LÄS MER
10. Structural Decorations in Viruses : Unraveling Acquired Functional Structures in Icosahedral RNA Virus Capsids
Sammanfattning : Viruses have a profound impact worldwide, posing challenges to animal welfare, agriculture, human health, and the ecosystem. This thesis examines the realm of non-enveloped icosahedral double-stranded (ds)RNA and single-stranded (ss)RNA viruses through three studies. LÄS MER
