  1. 1. Hedonic prices, economic growth, and spatial dependence

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Krister Sandberg; Umeå universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; business and economics; hedonic prices; spatial econometrics; co-operative flats; spatial dependence; SAR-GM; Single-family Homes; Heterogeneity; China; Convergence; Provincial Economic Growth; Ekonomi; SOCIAL SCIENCES Business and economics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Ekonomi; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers on econometric modeling of spatial dependence. The awareness of interactions between actors is fundamental for understanding property markets as well as the growth of regions. In both cases, neighbors and neighboring markets may stimulate or hamper growth of values. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis includes three self-contained papers. The first paper considers the effect of geographically dependent observations on cross-sectional growth convergence and proposes a way of decomposing the level of technology taking into account geographical variation in growth rates. 4. 4. Continuity and Change : Essays on path-dependence in economic geography and good food

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Pepijn Olders; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; path dependence; continuity; change; expert opinion; economic geography; restaurants; low-emission vehicles; PDO PGI labels;

    Sammanfattning : How can it be, that in our rapidly changing world certain things remain recognisably the same for such a long time? This dissertation is concerned with the economic geography of path-dependence and seeks to explain selected everyday examples of continuity and change. How can French restaurants and chefs be successful for decades despite changes in taste? Why are cars powered by fossil fuels still around while there are many novel and cleaner alternatives? What explains the re-invention of local food products in spite of the influx of many new products from around the world? These are the question this dissertation tries to explain as spatial expressions of ‘path-dependence’. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Local Polynomial Regression with Application on Lidar Measurements

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Torgny Lindström; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Matematik; differential equations; Funktioner; differentialekvationer; variance-function estimation.; spatial dependence; nonparametric; local polynomial regression; local bandwidth selection; lidar; heteroscedasticity; Bivariate estimation; differential absorption; Functions;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problem of estimating a function or one of its derivatives from a set of measurements, mainly of a bivariate or spatial nature which is so common in environmental applications. In this work particular attention has been on the lidar (light detection and ranging) application which is a versatile technique for measurement of among other things atmospheric trace gases. LÄS MER
