31. Protein-water interactions studied by molecular dynamics simulations
Sammanfattning : Most proteins have evolved to function optimally in aqueous environments, and the interactions between protein and water therefore play a fundamental role in the stability, dynamics, and function of proteins. Although we understand many details of water, we understand much less about the protein-water interface. LÄS MER
32. Nutrient and Organic Matter Dynamics in Beech Forest Floors, in Relation to the Presence of Ground Flora
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to quantify differences between adjacent patches with and without ground flora of Deschampsia flexuosa L. Trin or Anemone nemorosa L. in two acid European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forest floors in south-west of Sweden. LÄS MER
33. Method and technique development in peptide and protein mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Mechanistic studies and applicability of several methods and techniques for studying peptides and proteins with mass spectrometry are presented. A model for the protein molecular ion formation in explosive matrix-assisted plasma desorption mass spectrometry is proposed, involving a contribution from the chemical energy release during conversion of the explosive, an enhanced protonation through collisions with products from the explosive decay, and electron scavenging by other products. 34. Lignin Model Compounds: Synthesis, Stereochemistry and Acidolysis
Sammanfattning : Lignin model compounds representative of structural elements in lignin of the b-1, b-5, b-O-4, cinnamaldehyde and cinnamyl alcohol types were synthesized. erythro-Forms of b-1 models of the 1,2-diaryl-1,3-propanediol type were prepared by BF3-catalyzed rearrangement of chalcone epoxides and subsequent reduction of the rearrangement products with NaBH4. 35. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. LÄS MER
