2. Kan man räkna med PISA och TIMSS? : Relevansen hos internationella storskaliga mätningar i matematik i en nationell kontext
Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of the thesis is to contribute to the knowledge of relevance of international large-scale assessments (ILSAs) in mathematics, when these are to be used and interpreted in a national context. If a nation is to engage in ILSAs, draw conclusions from them and act on them, one should be aware of what they are measuring and how well it fits in with the national mathematics education and the mathematics they are trying to teach their students. 3. Hand Injury from Powered Wood Splitters
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study on hand injury from powered wood splitters was to describe injury epidemiology and anatomy, to rate injury severity, to evaluate the outcome after injury and to describe factors of possible importance for the occurrence of injury.By searching a computerized patient registry, 131 patients injured by wood splitters from 1995 to 2001 were identified. 4. SN 2011dh and the progenitors of Type IIb supernovae
Sammanfattning : Core-collapse supernovae (SNe) are the observed events following the collapse of the core of evolved massive stars. The gravitational energy released creates a powerful shock that disrupts the star and ejects the heated material into the surrounding circumstellar medium. The observed properties depend on the mass lost by the star, e.g. LÄS MER
5. PTF12os and iPTF13bvn : Two stripped-envelope supernovae discovered by the Palomar Transient Factory
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on research made by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory [(i)PTF], and it is particularly closely tied to the still ongoing research on the stripped-envelope (SE) supernova (SN), iPTF13bvn (Type Ib), that occurred in the nearby galaxy NGC 5806. This SN was initially thought to have been the explosion of a very massive Wolf-Rayet (WR) star, but I have shown that this is very likely not the case. LÄS MER
