  1. 1. Kan man räkna med PISA och TIMSS? : Relevansen hos internationella storskaliga mätningar i matematik i en nationell kontext

    Författare :Samuel Sollerman; Astrid Pettersson; Lovisa Sumpter; Christian Lundahl; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; International large-scale assessment; Mathematics; Validity; Validation; Relevance; Assessment; PISA; TIMSS; Mathematics education; matematikämnets didaktik; Mathematics Education;

    Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of the thesis is to contribute to the knowledge of relevance of international large-scale assessments (ILSAs) in mathematics, when these are to be used and interpreted in a national context. If a nation is to engage in ILSAs, draw conclusions from them and act on them, one should be aware of what they are measuring and how well it fits in with the national mathematics education and the mathematics they are trying to teach their students. 2. 2. Statistical modeling in international large-scale assessments

    Författare :Inga Laukaityte; Marie Wiberg; Kenny Bränberg; Ewa Rolfsman; Bernard Veldkamp; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multilevel model; plausible values; sampling weights; missing information; multiple imputation; non-monotone missing pattern; TIMSS; PISA; Statistics; statistik; pedagogik; Education;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to the area of research based on large-scale educational assessments, focusing on the application of multilevel models. The role of sampling weights, plausible values (response variable imputed multiple times) and imputation methods are demonstrated by simulations and applications to TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) and PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) data. 3. 3. International large-scale assessments and mathematics textbooks in a curriculum reform process : Changes in lower secondary school algebra in Sweden 1995–2015

    Författare :Kristina Palm Kaplan; Johan Prytz; Kajsa Bråting; Astrid Pettersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; curriculum reform; algebra; textbooks; international assessment; TIMSS; secondary school; test validity; student achievement.; Curriculum Studies; Didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : Reforming a curriculum entails more than simply launching new steering documents: it includes the development of new materials, evaluation of reform and identification of needs for further action. Drawing from algebra material surrounding the 2011 Swedish curriculum reform, this thesis contributes to understanding the process of curriculum reform concerning mathematics textbooks and international large-scale assessments.     Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; compulsory education; international large scale assessments ILSA ; PISA; TIMSS; PIRLS; ICCS; OECD; IEA; municipal school directors; principals; teachers; local reception; diffusion of innovations; policy enactment; grundskola; internationella kunskapsmätningar IK ; PISA; TIMSS; PIRLS; ICCS; OECD; IEA; kommunala skolchefer; rektorer; lärare; lokalt mottagande; Rogers diffusionsteori; policy enactment; pedagogiskt arbete; educational work;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the local reception and use in Sweden of the major international large scale assessments (ILSAs) of student performance: Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) and International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS). The aim is to describe and analyze how Swedish teachers, principals and school directors interpret and possibly use ILSAs in their professional practice. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploring and modeling response process data from PISA : inferences related to motivation and problem-solving

    Författare :Erik Lundgren; Hanna Eklöf; Inga Laukaityte; Per-Erik Lyrén; Samuel Greiff; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; response processes; large-scale assessments; motivation; problem-solving; computational modeling; Bayesian modeling; didactics of educational measurement; beteendevetenskapliga mätningar;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores and models response process data from large-scale assessments, focusing on test-taking motivation, problem-solving strategies, and questionnaire response validity. It consists of four studies, all using data from PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) data. LÄS MER
