  1. 1. Shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Hilmer Riberholt; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; connections; sheathing; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Wind loads acting on wooden building structures need to be dealt with adequately in order to ensure that neither the serviceability limit state nor the ultimate limit state is exceeded. For the structural designer of tall buildings, avoiding the possibly serious consequences of heavy wind loading while taking account at the same time of the effects of gravitation can be a real challenge. 2. 2. Analysis of shear walls for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Johan Vessby; Bo Källsner; Anders Olsson; Ulf Arne Girhammar; Roberto Crocetti; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multi-storey structures; timber engineering; wind stabilization; shear walls; cross-laminated timber wall panels; fasteners; sheathing-to-framing connections; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis addresses questions of how wind loads acting on multistoreytimber buildings can be dealt with by structural design of such buildings.The conventional use of sheathing either nailed or screwed to a timberframework is considered, together with other stabilizing structures such ascross-laminated timber panels. 3. 3. Parametric FE-modelling of non-linear racking behaviour of light-frame shear walls and modules used for multi-storey timber buildings

    Författare :Le Kuai; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Marie Johansson; Kay-Uwe Schober; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is a sustainable material from nature that has a longstanding traditionas a building material. Compared to other construction materials, such as steeland concrete, the significance of using structural timber and engineered wood products has increased in recent years because they are regarded as a renewable source and require a low carbon footprint and less energy consumption during production. 4. 4. Evaluation of Splitting Capacity of Bottom Rails in Partially Anchored Timber Frame Shear Walls

    Författare :Giuseppe Caprolu; Ian Smith; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träbyggnad; Timber Structures;

    Sammanfattning : The horizontal stabilization of timber frame buildings is oftenprovided by shear walls. Plastic design methods can be used todetermine the load-carrying capacity of fully and partially anchoredshear walls. In order to use these methods, a ductile behaviour of thesheathing-to-framing joint must be ensured. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the influence of glia on neurite outgrowth from dopamine neurons in the nigrostriatal system

    Författare :Malin Saga Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dopamine; glia; astrocytes; olfactory ensheathing cells; development; ni-grostriatal; mesencephalon; Parkinson s disease; 6-hydroxydopamine;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions between glial cells and neurons are important during fetal development, in the maintenance of the normal functions in tile central nervous system (CNS), arid in response to injuries or diseases. Some of die motor disturbances in Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder where one of the hallmarks is degeneration of dopamine (DA) neurons and concomitant depletion of DA in striatum, can be alleviated by intrastriatal grafting of embryonic DA tissue.
