  1. 16. Folding of the Ribosomal protein S6 : The role of sequence connectivity, overlapping foldons, and parallel pathways

    Författare :Ellinor Haglund; Mikael Oliveberg; Neil Ferguson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein folding; protein stability; two-state folding; S6; chevron plot; transition state; parallell pathways; foldon; two-channel landscape; protein engineering; H D-exchange; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : To investigate how protein folding is affected by sequence connectivity five topological variants of the ribosomal protein S6 were constructed through circular permutation.  In these constructs, the chain connectivity (i.e. the order of secondary-structure elements) is changed without changing the native-state topology. 2. 17. Unlocking protein sequences : Advances in protein structure and ligand-binding site prediction

    Författare :Aditi Shenoy; Arne Elofsson; Geoffrey J Barton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : The protein sequence determines how it will fold into its unique three-dimensional structure. Once folded, proteins perform their functions by interacting with other proteins or molecules called ligands within the cell. Experimental determination of protein structure and function is tedious. 3. 18. Human Aquaporins: Production, Characterization and Interactions

    Författare :Jennie Sjöhamn; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquaporins; membrane protein; protein production; protein characterization; protein:protein interactions; structural biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are essential components of the cell and responsible for the communication with the outside environment and transport of molecules across the membrane. Water transport is facilitated by aquaporins, which are water selective transmembrane pores that serve to maintain cell homeostasis. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Structural and thermodynamical basis for molecular recognition between engineered binding proteins

    Författare :Jakob Dogan; Per-Åke Nygren; John E. Ladbury; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; protein structure; induced fit; binding thermodynamics; NMR spectroscopy; protein engineering; protein-protein interactions; protein stability; calorimetry; Structural biochemistry; Strukturbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The structural determination of interacting proteins, both as individual proteins and in their complex, complemented by thermodynamical studies are vital in order to gain in-depth insights of the phenomena leading to the highly selective protein-protein interactions characteristic of numerous life processes. This thesis describes an investigation of the structural and thermodynamical basis for molecular recognition in two different protein-protein complexes, formed between so-called affibody proteins and their respective targets. 5. 20. Protein-Protein Interactions Affecting Protein-Surface Interactions

    Författare :Peter H. Warkentin; Jeff M. Schakenraad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is the behaviour of proteins towards surfaces in the presence of other protein species. General protein-protein interactions of some plasma proteins are investigated in the first four papers. The proteins, immunoglobulin G, albumin, and fibrinogen, are analysed in solutions of single proteins as well as controlled mixtures. LÄS MER
