  1. 1. The role of progesterone in the regulation of ciliary activity in the fallopian tube

    Författare :Magdalena Nutu; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; progesterone; progesterone receptor; non-genomic progesterone receptor; ciliated cells; fallopian tube; gamete transport; ciliary activity; ciliary beat frequency; reproduction; fertility;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the distribution and regulation of membrane progesterone receptors (mPRs) that may be involved in regulating ciliary activity in the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube serves to transport the egg and spermatozoa to achieve fertilization. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Progesterone metabolites learning, tolerance, antagonism & metabolism

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå university

    Författare :Charlotte Öfverman; Umeå universitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; allopregnanolone; isoallopregnanolone; THDOC; learning; tolerance; antagonism; inhibition; patch clamp; Morris water maze; metabolism; epimerization; MEDICINE Surgery Obstetrics and women s diseases Obstetrics and gynaecology; MEDICIN Kirurgi Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar Obstetrik och gynekologi; obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Progesterone metabolites as allopregnanolone, isoallopregnanolone and tetrahydrodeoxy-corticosterone (THDOC) are increased in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, throughout pregnancy and during stress. Allopregnanolone and THDOC are neurosteroids with 3α-hydroxy, 5α-configurations and positive modulating effect on the GABAA receptor. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Granulosa cell apoptosis: Transcriptional regulation by the nuclear progesterone receptor

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå university

    Författare :P. Anders Friberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovary; granulosa cells; ovulation; luteinization; progesterone; apoptosis; cholesterol synthesis; isoprenylation;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian follicle atresia caused by granulosa cell apoptosis is a central process in normal female physiology. Progesterone has been reported to be a survival factor in granulosa cells at several developmental stages. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neuroactive steroids and rat CNS

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå university

    Författare :Vita Birzniece; Umeå universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :Estradiol; progesterone; HRT; allopregnanolone; UC1011; serotonin receptor; GABAA receptor; mRNA; Morris water maze; silent second; tolerance; Clinical Neurophysiology; klinisk neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Several studies suggest profound effects on mood and cognition by neuroactive steroids. Estrogen alone or in combination with antidepressant drugs affecting the serotonin system has been used to treat mood disorders. On the other hand, progesterone is related to negative effects on mood and memory. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Polymorphism in sex steroid-related genes. Effects on hormone levels and behavior

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg

    Författare :Lars Westberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sex steroids; androgen receptor; estrogen receptor; progesterone receptor; polymorphism; genetics; association study; prolactin; personality; premenstrual dysphoric disorder; Parkinson s disease;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic factors are important for variations between individuals with respect to most humantraits and diseases. Sex steroids are of profound importance for reproduction, metabolism,cardiovascular function and bone formation. They are potent regulators of their ownsynthesis as well as of that of other hormones, including prolactin. LÄS MER
