  1. 1. The Importance of Isoprenylation and Nf1 Deficiency in K-RAS-induced Cancer

    Författare :Anna-Karin Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :FTase; GGTase-I; isoprenylation; K-RAS; NF1; CAAX proteins; lung cancer; AML;

    Sammanfattning : The RAS and RHO family proteins contribute to tumorigenesis and metastasis and belong to a family of so called CAAX proteins. The membrane targeting and proper function of CAAX proteins are dependent on posttranslational isoprenylation by farnesyltransferase (FTase) or geranylgeranyltransferase type I (GGTase-I). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Granulosa cell apoptosis: Transcriptional regulation by the nuclear progesterone receptor

    Författare :P. Anders Friberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ovary; granulosa cells; ovulation; luteinization; progesterone; apoptosis; cholesterol synthesis; isoprenylation;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian follicle atresia caused by granulosa cell apoptosis is a central process in normal female physiology. Progesterone has been reported to be a survival factor in granulosa cells at several developmental stages. LÄS MER

  3. 3. SIGNALING MECHANISMS IN SEPSIS-INDUCED IMMUNE DYSFUNCTION

    Författare :Zirak Hasan; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; abdominal sepsis; neutrophil; lung; chemokines; infection; T-cells; CD44; Rho-kinase; isoprenylation;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis and subsequent organ failure remain the major cause of mortality in intensive care units in spite of significant research efforts. The lung is the most vulnerable organ affected by early hyper-inflammatory immune response in septic patients. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Isoprenylation and NET formation in acute pancreatitis

    Författare :Mohammed Merza; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute pancreatitis; neutrophil recruitment; trypsinogen activation; NET;

    Sammanfattning : Acute Pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammation disease that characterized by activation of protease and the innate immune system, leading to infiltration of neutrophils and tissue damage in the pancreas. The aim of this thesis was to determine the role of isoprenylation (farnesyltransferase and geranylgeranyltransferase) as well as NET formation in regulating recruitment of neutrophils and tissue damage in severe AP.
