  1. 6. Collisional effects and attosecond diagnostics in laser-generated plasmas

    Författare :Andréas Sundström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrostatic shocks; plasma physics; plasma diagnostics; laser-plasmas; attosecond pulses; extreme-ultraviolet; Coulomb collisions;

    Sammanfattning : When matter is radiated by laser light of extreme intensity, it is rapidly ionized, thereby forming a plasma. Such laser-generated plasmas can be used as sources of energetic particles and radiation, or to study astrophysically relevant phenomena in the laboratory and the behavior of matter under extreme conditions. 2. 7. Optical Diagnostics of Non-thermal Plasmas and Plasma-assisted Combustion

    Författare :Jiajian Zhu; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-speed photography; Laser diagnostics; Planar laser-induced fluorescence; Plasma-assisted combustion; Non-thermal plasmas; Gliding arc discharge; Optical diagnostics; Particle tracking velocimetry; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Zhu;

    Sammanfattning : Non-thermal plasma is regarded as a collection of free electrons, ions and neutral particles that are not at local thermodynamic equilibrium. The high-energetic electrons formed in non-thermal plasmas are capable of generating chemically active species and modifying chemical kinetics in practical applications. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The Klimontovich description of complex plasma systems : Low frequency electrostatic modes, spectral densities of fluctuations and collision integrals

    Författare :Panagiotis Tolias; Lars Blomberg; Carmine Castaldo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; complex plasmas; dusty plasmas; Klimontovich equations; kinetic theory; dust acoustic waves; collision integrals;

    Sammanfattning : Plasmas seeded with solid particulates of nanometer to micron sizes (complex plasma systems) are a ubiquitous feature of intergalactic, interstellar and planetary environments but also of plasma processing applications or even fusion devices. Their novel aspects compared with ideal multi-component plasmas stem from (i) the large number of elementary charges residing on the grain surface, (ii) the variability of the charge over mass ratio of the dust component, (iii) the inherent openness and dissipative nature of such systems. 4. 9. Satellite observations of auroral acceleration processes

    Författare :Lars Eliasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aurora; particle acceleration; space plasma; magnetosphere; ionosphere; polar cap; satellite observations;

    Sammanfattning : Measurements with satellite and sounding rocket borne instruments contain important information on remote and local processes in regions containing matter in the plasma state. The characteristic features of the particle distributions can be used to explain the morphology and dynamics of the different plasma populations. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Energy Conversion and Particle Acceleration at Turbulent Plasma Jet Fronts

    Författare :Louis Richard; Yuri V. Khotyaintsev; Tomas Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : High speed plasma flows (jets) are ubiquitous phenomena in the universe. For example, they carry energy from the most powerful sources (e.g active galactic nucleï AGN) to the medium at rest surrounding them. LÄS MER
