1. Porous Polymeric Monoliths by Less Common Pathways : Preparation and Characterization
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on my endeavors to prepare new porous polymeric monoliths that are viable to use as supports in flow-through processes. Polymer monoliths of various porous properties and different chemical properties have been prepared utilizing the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) phenomenon and step-growth polymerization reactions. 2. High density ferroelectric Na0.5K0.5NbO3 ceramics : preparation and applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the production of high density ferroelectric Na0.5K0.5NbO3-ceramics (NKN). The main steps in the production are milling, calcination, pressing and sintering. LÄS MER
3. On-chip Ultrasonic Sample Preparation
Sammanfattning : Acoustofluidics has become a well-established technology in the lab-on-a-chip scientific community. The technology involves primarily the manipulation of fluids and/or particles in microfluidic systems. LÄS MER
4. Tactile touch in intensive care : Nurses' preparation, patients' experiences and the effect on stress parameters
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to acquire knowledge about whether tactile touch as a complementary method can (i) promote comfort and (ii) reduce stress reactions during care in an intensive care unit (ICU) Method: In Paper I, five nurses with a touch therapist training were interviewed about their experiences of preparation before giving tactile touch in an ICU. To analyse the meaning of preparation as a phenomenon, Giorgi’s descriptive phenomenological approach was used. LÄS MER
5. When children undergo radiotherapy. Exploring care, developing and testing preparation procedures
Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy (RT) is a repetitive treatment divided into daily fractions, scheduled five days a week from one up to several weeks depending upon the child’s diagnosis. Although RT is painless and non-invasive, children experience anxiety. LÄS MER
