  1. 6. Dyslexics' phonological processing in relation to speech perception

    Författare :Michael Gruber; Åke Olofsson; Peter Juslin; Maria Mody; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Dyslexia; speech perception; phonological representations; reading acquisition; sine wave speech; phonological deficit hypothesis; phonological awareness; phonological processing; orthographic processing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to investigate phonological processing skills in dyslexic children and adults and their relation to speech perception. Dyslexia can be studied at various levels: at a biological, cognitive and an environmental level. This thesis mainly looks at environmental and cognitive factors. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Feedback learning and multiple goal pursuit in an electricity consumption task

    Författare :Mona Guath; Peter Juslin; Ulrike Hahn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; feedback; multiple goal pursuit; function learning; electricity consumption; optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim with the thesis was to investigate how learning to pursue two conflicting goals (cost and utility) in an electricity consumption task is affected by different forms of feedback, goal phrasing, and task environment. Applied research investigating the efficiency of outcome feedback on electricity consumption via in-home displays points at modest reductions (2-4%). LÄS MER

  3. 8. A naïve sampling model of intuitive confidence intervals

    Författare :Patrik Hansson; Peter Juslin; Ralph Hertwig; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; overconfidence; subjective probability; sampling model; short-term memory; age-differences.; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : A particular field in research on judgment and decision making (JDM) is concerned with realism of confidence in one’s knowledge. An interesting finding is the so-called format dependence effect, which implies that assessment of the same probability distribution generates different conclusions about over- or underconfidence depending on the assessment format. 4. 9. A Division-of-Labor Hypothesis : Adaptations to Task Structure in Multiple-Cue Judgment

    Författare :Linnea Karlsson; Peter Juslin; David Lagnado; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiple-cue judgment; exemplar models; cue abstraction; cue-combination rule; Cognitive science; Kognitionsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Judgments that demand consideration of pieces of information in the environment occur repeatedly throughout our lives. One professional example is that of a physician that considers multiple symptoms to make a judgment about a patient’s disease. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Additive Integration of Information in Multiple-Cue Judgment

    Författare :Linnea Karlsson; Peter Juslin; Tommy Gärling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates adaptive shifts between different cognitive processes in multiple-cue judgment tasks. At least two qualitatively and quantitatively different cognitive strategies can be identified: one process in which abstraction and integration of cue-criterion relations form the basis for the judgment (Einhorn, Kleinmutz & Kleinmutz, 1979) and one which is based onsimilarity comparisons between a probe and similar exemplars stored in memory (Medin & Schaffer, 1978; Nosofsky, 1984; Nosofsky & Johanssen, 2000).
