  1. 21. Understanding the environmental regulation of tree phenology

    Författare :Tetiana Svystun; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phenological events; environmental cues; temperature response; phenological modelling; frost risk; gross primary production; climate change impact;

    Sammanfattning : In temperate and boreal climates, trees synchronise their annual growth cycles with seasonal changes in daylength and temperature. Understanding how environmental cues regulate tree phenology is important to our ability to capture the potential responses of trees to climate change, with implications for forest productivity. 2. 22. Modelling calving and sliding of Svalbard outlet glaciers : Spatio-temporal changes and interactions

    Författare :Dorothée Vallot; Rickard Pettersson; Veijo Pohjola; Ken Mattsson; Tómas Jóhannesson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cryospheric science; glacier modelling; time-lapse imagery; undercutting; sliding inversion; discrete particle model; calving model; subglacial hydrology; sliding law; automatic detection method; calving events size and frequency; ocean interaction; melt water runoff; ice dynamics; ice flow model; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Future sea level rise associated to global warming is one of the greatest societal and environmental challenges of tomorrow. A large part of the contribution comes from glaciers and ice sheets discharging ice and meltwater into the ocean and the recent worldwide increase is worrying. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Uncertainties and variability in the global carbon cycle

    Författare :Stephens Craig; Martin Heimann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorology; Meteorologi; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are perturbing the radiation balance of the atmosphere that ultimately determines the climate for all life on Earth. The prediction of future climate change and the explanation of observed changes are contingent on us quantitatively understanding the link between CO2 emissions and atmospheric concentrations that is provided by the biogeochemical carbon cycle. 4. 24. An X-ray LogScanner : a tool for control of the sawmill process

    Författare :Stig Grundberg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is a biological material with great variability. Every piece of wood is a unique individual. The great challenge in the wood products manufacturing process has always been to select pieces of wood with properties that fulfil the product requirements. LÄS MER

  5. 25. The role of high-latitude circulation and moisture transport in Arctic climate variability and change during winter

    Författare :Cian Woods; Rodrigo Caballero; Gunilla Svensson; Timo Vihma; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the connections between atmospheric circulation in the high-latitudes, northward moisture transport, and Arctic climate variability and change during winter. An event based approach is taken by objectively defining phenomena termed “moisture intrusions” -- filamentary flows of anomalously moist air which originate at 70°N and cross the entire Arctic basin.
