11. Studier av geomorfologi och isavsmältning i nordvästra Lappland
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of eight earlier published papers, all in Swedish (see page 7). In connection with geomorphological mapping in the area between Torneträsk and Stora Lule älv a considerable amount of information has been collected with regard to the recession of the inland ice sheet in the high mountains. 12. Neuropeptide Y Y1 receptor mechanisms in sympathetic vascular control
Sammanfattning : It was demonstrated that the Y1 receptor was the predominant vascular neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptor in pig kidney and hind limb as exogenous and endogenous NPY evoked vasoconstrictor responses that were almost or totally abolished by the selective non-peptide Y1 receptor antagonist, BIBP 3226. Furthermore, renal vasoconstriction was evoked by NPY and a peptide Y1 agonist, but not by a Y 2 agonist, and these responses were strongly reduced by another non-peptide Y, receptor antagonist, SR 120107A. 13. On cholinergic mechanisms involved in ethanol reinforcement. A behavioral and neurochemical study in rodents
Sammanfattning : Alcohol (ethanol) and smoking (nicotine) are commonly co-abused in human beings. Drugs of abuse interact with the brain mesolimbic dopamine system, an important part of the brain reward system. These dopaminergic neurons originate in the ventral tegmental area and project to e.g. LÄS MER
14. Systems biology of yeast metabolism - Understanding metabolism through proteomics and constraint-based modeling
Sammanfattning : Metabolism is the set of all chemical reactions that occur inside of cells. By providing all the building blocks that are required for sustaining a cellular state and cell proliferation, metabolism is at the core of cellular function. Therefore, in order to understand cellular function it is important to understand cellular metabolism. LÄS MER
15. Design and characterization of 64K pixels chips working in single photon processing mode
Sammanfattning : Progress in CMOS technology and in fine pitch bump bonding has made possible the development of high granularity single photon counting detectors for X-ray imaging. This thesis studies the design and characterization of three pulse processing chips with 65536 square pixels of 55 μm x 55 μm designed in a commercial 0. LÄS MER
