  1. 1. Functional Imaging of Spinal Locomotor Networks

    Författare :Chetan Nagaraja; Klas Kullander; Gilad Silberberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Central pattern generators; two-photon microscopy; locomotor rhythm; multiple rhythmicities; inhibitory neurotransmission; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Movement is necessary for the survival of most animals. The spinal cord contains neuronal networks that are capable of motor coordination and of producing different movements. In particular, a very reduced neuronal network in the spinal cord can produce simple rhythmic outputs even in the absence of descending or sensory inputs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Crossing the Midline : Locomotor Neuronal Circuitry Formation

    Författare :Fatima Memic; Klas Kullander; Avihu Klar; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Networks at various levels of the nervous system coordinate different motor patterns such as respiration, eye or hand movements and locomotion. Intrinsic rhythm-generating networks that are located in the spinal cord generate motor behaviors that underlie locomotion in vertebrates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Deciphering the Locomotor Network : The Role of Spinal Cord Interneurons

    Författare :Sharn Perry; Klas Kullander; Kimberly Dougherty; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Locomotion; central pattern generator; mouse; gait; recurrent inhibition; Renshaw cell; Dmrt3; Chrna2; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In the spinal cord, an intricate neural network generates and coordinates the patterning of limb movements during locomotion. This network, known as the locomotor central pattern generator (CPG), comprises of various cell populations that together orchestrate the output of motor neurons. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nicotine sensitization and loss of inhibitory control. Role of serotonin

    Författare :Peter Olausson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []

    Sammanfattning : Drug dependence is a devastating disorder present in all parts of the world. It is manifested by craving and a general loss of control over the drug intake and the life situation, ultimately leading to compulsive use of the addictive drug at the expense of normal behavioral patterns. 5. 5. Circadian Rhythms in Moth Sex Pheromone Communication

    Författare :Germund von Wowern; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physiology of invertebrates; växtparasitologi; Entomologi; plant parasitology; Entomology; Ecology; Ekologi; locomotor activity; social synchronisation; PDH; corazonin; PBAN; pheromone response; sex phermone; Lepidoptera; Ryggradslösa djurs fysiologi; calling behaviour; circadian rhythm;

    Sammanfattning : Sex pheromone communication and related physiological processes are regulated by circadian clock mechanisms in many moth species. This thesis includes studies of circadian rhythms in sexually relevant behaviours and communication in the Egyptian cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis, the turnip moth Agrotis segetum, the Indian meal moth Plodia interpunctella and the Mediterranean flour moth Ephestia kuehniella.
