  1. 6. Endogenous modulators of hyperexcitability in epilepsy: electrophysiological and optogenetic delineation of neuropeptide Y mechanisms in interneurons

    Författare :Marco Ledri; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; interneurons; Epilepsy; Neuropeptide Y; synaptic transmission; synaptic plasticity; electrophysiology; optogenetics;

    Sammanfattning : Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders worldwide, affecting 1% of the general population, and is characterized by a predisposition for the generation of epileptic seizures. Despite having several different aetiologies, a common underlying cause of epilepsy seems to be an acquired imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory circuits in the brain, which leads to hyperexcitability and appearance of seizures. 2. 7. Gene Therapy for Neurological Disorders

    Författare :Jan Tönnesen; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epileptiform activity; striatum; organotypic culture; electrophysiology; Wnt5a; synaptic connectivity.; cell transplantation; hippocampus; neural stem cells; epilepsy; functional integration; Parkinson’s disease; optogenetics; Gene therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Gene therapy is an attractive strategy for neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy, for several reasons. Introduction of genes with a therapeutic potential can be achieved locally, by accurate injections in the compromised tissue, and release of a transgene therapeutic substance can be regulated by the surrounding host neural circuitry. 3. 8. Organization of the spinal locomotor network in zebrafish : pattern of recruitment and origin of excitatory drive

    Författare :Emma Eklöf Ljunggren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Locomotion is of vital importance for animals to survive in a complex environment. Locomotor movements are generated by neuronal networks that reside in the spinal cord and are composed of motoneurons and interneurons. LÄS MER

  4. 9. On the Mechanisms Behind Hippocampal Theta Oscillations : The role of OLMα2 interneurons

    Författare :Sanja Mikulovic; Richardson Leao; Klas Kullander; Stefan Remy; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hippocampus; interneuron; optogenetics; theta oscillations; anxiety;

    Sammanfattning : Theta activity is one of the most prominent rhythms in the brain and appears to be conserved among mammals.  These 4-12 Hz oscillations have been predominantly studied in the dorsal hippocampus where they are correlated with a broad range of voluntary and exploratory behaviors. 5. 10. Phosphoinositides control insulin secretion through multiple routes

    Författare :Phuoc My Nguyen; Christina Bark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phosphoinositides; PI 4 P; PI 4; 5 P2; Ca2 ; optogenetics; VDCC; Sac2; OSBP; OSW-1; cholesterol; membrane contact sites;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose-stimulated insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells is the sequence of events that starts with glucose uptake and ends with the fusion of insulin granules with the plasma membrane through Ca2+-triggered exocytosis. Phosphoinositides are minor components of all cellular membranes, yet play fundamental roles as regulators of many cellular processes. LÄS MER
