  1. 16. Optical Efficiency of Low-Concentrating Solar Energy Systems with Parabolic Reflectors

    Författare :Maria Brogren; Arne Roos; Björn Karlsson; Andreas Häberle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Photovoltaic cells; Photovoltaic-thermal systems; Parabolic reflectors; Optical properties; Reflector materials; Optical efficiency; Accelerated ageing; Outdoor ageing; Building-integrated photovoltaics; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Solar electricity is a promising energy technology for the future, and by using reflectors for concentrating solar radiation onto photovoltaic cells, the cost per produced kWh can be significantly reduced. The optical efficiency of a concentrating system determines the fraction of the incident energy that is transferred to the cells and depends on the optical properties of the system components. 2. 17. 3D super-resolution microscopy of living cells using reversibly switchable fluorophores

    Författare :Andreas Bodén; Ilaria Testa; Francisco Balzarotti; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RESOLFT; 3D imaging; super-resolution; microscopy; reversibly switchable fluorescent proteins; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional optical microscopy techniques are limited in spatial resolution due to the wave nature of light. This means that neighboring objects separated by a distance smaller than about 200 nm cannot be distinguished. LÄS MER

  3. 18. DNA Electrophoresis: Optical Probing and Microscopic Imaging to Understand Separation Mechanisms

    Författare :Anette Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical probing; YOYO; polarized light spectroscopy; DNA electrophoresis; DAPI; binding modes; helix alignment; fluorescence microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to combine spectroscopic, mobility, and fluorescence microscopy studies to elucidate the mechanisms behind DNA electrophoresis, a method to separate DNA molecules according to size. The microscopy studies require staining of the DNA with a fluorescent dye. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Single Cell Studies of Glycolytic Oscillations Using Microfluidics and Optical Tweezers

    Författare :Anna-Karin Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical manipulation; microfluidics; fluorescence microscopy; single cell imaging; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; glycolysis; oscillations; NADH;

    Sammanfattning : The complex set of reactions in metabolism has been extensively studied in populations with millions of cells, but much information can still be gained by studying the heterogeneous metabolic behaviour in individual cells. The first part of energy metabolism is called glycolysis and is very similar in mammalian cells, such as human cells, and in yeast cells. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Non-linear Optical Microscopy and Spectroscopy for Biomedical Studies

    Författare :Stina Guldbrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Two-Photon Excitation Microscopy; Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy; Multiphoton Luminescence; Human Skin; Gold nanoparticles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on the application of non-linear optical microscopy and spectroscopy techniques within biomedical research. Non-linear optical microscopy gives the possibility of exciting fluorophores using near infrared light. LÄS MER
