  1. 11. Platelets : intracellular signalling and cellular interaction

    Författare :Magnus Grenegård; Hans Gyllenhammar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Activation of platelets is essential to prevent excessive blood loss at the site of vascular injury. These highly reactive cell fragments are also involved in several pathological conditions, in particular arterial thrombosis, which, in the coronary vessels, can lead to reduced blood flow, vessel occlusion and myocardial infarction. 2. 12. Gene regulation of UDP-glucose synthesis and metabolism in plants

    Författare :Henrik Johansson; Pierdomenica Perata; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; antisense; Arabidopsis thaliana; carbohydrate; hybrid aspen; photosynthesis; poplar; sugar; UDP-glucose; UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase; UDP-glucose dehydrogenase; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis captures light from the sun and converts it into carbohydrates, which are utilised by almost all living organisms. The conversion between the different forms of carbohydrates is the basis to form almost all biological molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Functional significance of phosphorylation of rat renal Na+, K+-ATPase by PKA and PKC

    Författare :Sam Xian Jun Cheng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Na ; K -ATPase; protein phosphorylation; cAMP-dependent protein kinase; protein kinase C; site-directed mutagenesis; DNA transfection; isoproterenol; [Ca2 ]i.;

    Sammanfattning : The activity of Na+,K+-ATPase (NKA) is short term regulated by hormones as well as by signalling pathways that involve activation of PKA or PKC, but the mechanism(s) remains unclear. This study was performed to evaluate whether this regulation of NKA occurs via PKA- or PKC-mediated phosphorylation of the NKA a subunit. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Role of p70 S6 kinase in the formation of tau pathologies in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Wen-Lin An; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer s disease; p70 S6 kinase; tau; protein translation; accumulation; phosphorylation;

    Sammanfattning : One of the important neuropathological features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the tau pathology seen as accumulation and hyperphosphorylation of this protein. Evidences showed that tau could be phosphorylated mostly at serine/threonine (S/T) residues by many kinases, including protein kinase B, glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3beta, extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2), ERK1/2 kinase (MEK1/2), c-Jun Nterminal kinase (JNK), and p38.
