    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents Late Quaternary biostratigraphy in the SE Baltic Sea, based on palynological data from fifteen sediment cores. An objective subdivision of the cores has been achieved by numerical zonation. Ordination has revealed a succession of pollen spectra that can be used for biostratigraphic correlation across the region. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the dynamics of vegetation and human impact on the environment in coastal Estonia during the Holocene. The sediments of five mires and two lakes from the mainland and from Saaremaa island, and a cultural layer of an Early Mesolithic settlement at Pärnu River were investigated by means of pollen analysis (modern and fossil pollen spectra), 14C dating (AMS and conventional dating) and numerical analysis of pollen data (rarefaction analysis, zonation and principal components analysis).     Sammanfattning : The Silurian foreland of Scandinavia included a vast epicontinental carbonate platform system of which the island of Gotland (Sweden) is an erosional remnant. This thesis treats the Late Wenlock succession (Cyrtograptus lundgreni, Pristiograptus dubius parvus, Gothograptus nassa, Colonograptus(?) praedeubeli, and the Co(?) deubeli zones), and emphasises the sedimentology and biostratigraphy of these deposits.
