1. Potential Flow Panel Methods for the Calculation of Free-surface Flows with Lift
Sammanfattning : Two non-linear Rankine-source panel methods are developed and implemented in the same computer code. The first method uses a four-point upwind operator on the free-surface to compute the velocity derivatives and to enforce the radiation condition while the second method uses an analytical expression for the velocity derivatives and a collocation point shift one panel upstream to prevent upstream waves. 2. A Panel Method for Supersonic Flow
Sammanfattning : Supersonic airflow is usually described by a nonlinear hyperbolic system of equations. In this thesis we consider an aircraft represented by a union of thin plates orthogonal to the direction of Right, and describe the derivation of an approximate linear model for the airflow around it. The linear model is reduced to a system of integral equations. LÄS MER
3. Reduced Order Modeling and Substructuring : Applications in Nonlinear Structural Dynamics
Sammanfattning : A structural design process typically involves various load cases for which a sufficient load-bearing capacity must be demonstrated. In addition to static load cases, a verification of dynamic loads, such as blast and impact loading, may be required. LÄS MER
4. Fatigue Assessment of Container Ships – a Contribution to Direct Calculation Procedures
Sammanfattning : Within the field of marine structural engineering, the introduction of new materials and material classes, the development of production techniques and new design, and new requirements imposed by authorities are examples which justify a need for continuous revisit and update of fatigue assessment methodologies of marine structures. This thesis contributes to the development and improvement of fatigue assessment methodology for ship structures. LÄS MER
5. Nonlinear dynamics and smooth transition models
Sammanfattning : During the last few years nonlinear models have been a very active area of econometric research: new models have been introduced and existing ones generalized. To a large extent, these developments have concerned models in which the conditional moments are regime-dependent. LÄS MER
