16. Modeling and Characterization of nonlinear Materials for Protection of Optical Sensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns nonlinear materials and experimental techniques for optical power limiting applications. Theoretical models to analyze and simulate related measurements were studied. Two different numerical modeling tools for propagation of optical radiation through optically nonlinear media were developed. LÄS MER
17. Nonlinear Absorbing platinum(II) Acetylides for Optical Power Limiting Applications
Sammanfattning : During the past few decades, laser technology has had a strong impact on our society, providing important contributions to materials processing, data storage, communications, medicine, and defense applications. However, the progress in laser technology has also brought about the development of harmful portable high‐power lasers and tactical laser weapons. LÄS MER
18. Theoretical Design of Molecular Photonic Materials
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a theoretical study on optical properties of molecular materials. Special emphasis has been put on the influence of solvent environment, nuclear vibrations, and aggregation effects on molecular properties like linear and nonlinear polarizabilities, one- and two-photon absorption probabilities. 19. Tandem optical parametric oscillators using volume Bragg grating spectral control
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes research on near degenerate quasi phase-matched opticalparametric oscillators (OPO) where volume Bragg gratings (VBG) are used toproduce narrow oscillation bandwidth. These OPOs are then used to pump a secondOPO to generate mid-infrared radiation. The atmospheric transmission windows in the 3. LÄS MER
20. Advanced nano- and microdomain engineering of Rb-doped KTiOPO4 for nonlinear optical applications
Sammanfattning : Fine-pitch ferroelectric domain gratings are extensively used for generation of light in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions through quasi-phase matched (QPM) frequency conversion. Sub-μm QPM devices enables demonstration of nonlinear optics with counterpropagating waves, a field of nonlinear optics which remains sparsely explored due to the difficulty of fabricatinghigh quality gratings.
