  1. 11. Small RNA-mediated Regulation of Gene Expression in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Cecilia Unoson; E. Gerhart. H Wagner; Renée Schroeder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Small RNA; non-coding RNA; antisense; translational control; ribosome standby; toxin-antitoxin; IstR; TisB; tisAB; MicF; Lrp; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Biologi med inriktning mot mikrobiologi; Biology with specialization in Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Non-coding RNAs are highly abundant regulators of gene expression in all kingdoms of life that often play important roles in vital cellular functions. In bacteria, small regulatory RNAs (sRNAs) usually act post-transcriptionally by regulating mRNAs through base pairing within ribosome binding sites (RBS), thereby inhibiting translation initiation. 2. 12. Learning Multidimensional Signal Processing

    Författare :Magnus Borga; Hans Knutsson; Josef Kittler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this dissertation is to show how learning can be used for multidimensional signal processing, in particular computer vision. Learning is a wide concept, but it can generally be defined as a system’s change of behaviour in order to improve its performance in some sense. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Macromolecular Matchmaking : Mechanisms and Biology of Bacterial Small RNAs

    Författare :Erik Holmqvist; E. Gerhart H. Wagner; Udo Bläsi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Small RNA; sRNA; non-coding RNA; antisense; gene regulation; post-transcriptional regulation; translational control; outer membrane protein; OmpA; MicA; biofilm; flagella; curli; bistability; Lrp; MicF; CsgD; FlgM; OmrA; OmrB; Biologi med inriktning mot mikrobiologi; Biology with specialization in Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cells sense the properties of the surrounding environment and convert this information into changes in gene expression. Bacteria are, in contrast to many multi-cellular eukaryotes, remarkable in their ability to cope with rapid environmental changes and to endure harsh and extreme milieus. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Cooperative communication for multi-user cognitive radio networks

    Författare :Maksym Girnyk; Lars Kildehöj Rasmussen; Fredrik Rusek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the main trend in wireless communications has been shifted from voice transmission to data-centric communication. This shift has caused an increase in the data rate requirements for future wireless communication systems. These requirements result in need for large bandwidth. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Capacity development in international aid : A contribution to theory and practice

    Författare :Magnus Hagelsteen; Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Capacity development; Capacity building; Partnership; Ownership; Power; Risk; Disaster;

    Sammanfattning : Although capacity development has been a key aspect of global aid policy for decades, success is limited. Capacity development is defined as a process, based on a partnership, to develop capacity to achieve a goal. LÄS MER
