1. Mercury immobilization : a requirement for permanent disposal of mercury waste in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Swedish Government states that mercury in the Swedish industry and private use shall be collected and waste containing more than 1% of mercury shall be conditioned for permanent storage in proposed groundwater-saturated repository in deep bedrock. The owners of mercury waste in Sweden are responsible for finding ways to the conversion of the mercury waste to insoluble forms. LÄS MER
2. Catching Mercury : Mercury in Lake Vänern and Swedish catchments
3. Remediation of mercury polluted soil
Sammanfattning : Mercury in contaminated soil constitutes a wide spectrum of species with highly different properties due to the chemical complexity of the element. Assessments of risk, ecological effects and removal potential require process and mobility studies. LÄS MER
4. Remediation of mercury contaminated soil and biological mercury methylation in the landscape
Sammanfattning : Accumulation of mercury (Hg) in soil originating from both natural and anthropogenic sources poses a major hazard to environmental and human health. Inorganic Hg(II) in soil can be transformed to highly toxic methylmercury (MeHg) mainly via methylating microorganisms. LÄS MER
5. Mercury species transformations in marine and biological systems studied by isotope dilution mass spectrometry and stable isotope tracers
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the implementation of species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) methodology and stable isotope tracers to determine mercury species occurrence and transformation processes in-situ and during sample treatment. Isotope enriched tracers of methyl-, ethyl- and inorganic mercury were synthesised and applied in different combinations to marine and biological samples. LÄS MER
