21. Exploiting enzyme promiscuity for rational design
Sammanfattning : Enzymes are today well recognized in various industrial applications, being an important component in detergents, and catalysts in the production of agrochemicals, foods, pharmaceuticals, and fine chemicals. Their large use is mainly due to their high selectivity and environmental advantage, compared to traditional catalysts. LÄS MER
22. Lipase-Catalyzed Syntheses of Telechelic Polyesters
Sammanfattning : Telechelic polyesters have successfully been synthesized with lipase-catalyzed polymerization. The produced telechelics had a high degree of difunctionalization, high purity (requiring little or no workup) and controlled degree of polymerization. The syntheses were performed in one-pot one-step reaction systems. LÄS MER
23. Lipase Specificity and Selectivity : Engineering, Kinetics and Applied Catalysis
Sammanfattning : The specificity and selectivity of the enzyme Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) were studiedfor several substrates and applications. With help of molecular modeling, the active site of CALB was redesigned for the ring openingpolymerization of D,D‐lactide. LÄS MER
24. Early events in disease associated protein misfolding
Sammanfattning : The scope of this thesis is to unravel some of the mysteries concerning events takingplace early in the amyloid cascade. In vitro studies of early misfolded states ofamyloidogenic proteins are important since the use of recombinant proteins allow us to monitor slight changes in environmental conditions as well as in amino acid composition and thereby illuminate the problem at near atomic resolution. 25. Molecular Aspects of Transthyretin Amyloid Disease
Sammanfattning : This thesis was made to get a deeper understanding of how chaperones interact with unstable, aggregation prone, misfolded proteins involved in human disease. Over the last two decades, there has been much focus on misfolding diseases within the fields of biochemistry and molecular biotechnology research. LÄS MER
