  1. 1. Environmentally Degradable Polyethylene : Effects of Additives and Environment on the Degradation and Degradation products

    Författare :Farideh Khabbaz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LDPE; polyethylene; oxidative degradation; photo-oxidation; thermo-oxidation; degradation products; photosensitisers; pro-oxidant; starch; master-batch; gas chromatography mass-spectrometry; GC-MS; solid phase microextraction; SPME;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises and compares the influences ofdifferent additives (photosensitisers, pro-oxidants, abiodegradable filler) on blown low-density polyethylene (LDPE)films during photo- and thermal degradation with respect tochemical changes in the polymer matrices and identifieddegradation products. Additives studied were irondimethyldithiocarbamate (FeDMC), nickel dibutyldithocarbamate(NiDBC), carbon black, starch, a pro-oxidant that consisted ofmanganese stearate together with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)or natural rubber (NR) and a master batch containing linearLDPE, starch and pro-oxidant. 2. 2. Interactions between extracellular matrix proteins and the complement system - In the perspective of cartilage degradation in inflammatory joint diseases

    Författare :Camilla Melin Fürst; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Complement system; rheumatoid arthritis; osteoarthritis; extracellular matrix; cartilage degradation; mass spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: The joint diseases osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are characterized by destructive inflammatory processes that result in pathological changes of the joint tissues, including proteolytic degradation of cartilage and release of extracellular matrix proteins or fragments to the synovial fluid. The complement system, which is a part of the innate immune system, plays a central role in promoting the joint inflammation in these diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Damage-Based Interface Model: Application to the Degradation and Failure of a Polycrystalline Microstructure

    Författare :Patrik Cannmo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; damage; polycrystalline microstructure; degradation; slip and dilatation; interfaces; FE-calculations; viscoplasticity; plasticity; failure;

    Sammanfattning : A constitutive model for material interfaces is presented. The model is based on damage coupled to plastic (or viscoplastic) slip and dilatation, and it is able to describe the successive degradation and failure of an interface. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Peri-implantitis : treatment and effects of enamel matrix derivative

    Författare :Catrine Isehed; Pernilla Lundberg; Anders Holmlund; Leif Jansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; implant; peri-implantitis; bone regeneration; enamel matrix derivative; surgical treatment; proteome; bone marrow macrophages; osteoclast formation; bone resorption; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Biological complications affecting osseointegrated dental implants are a growing treatment problem in clinical practice. Since the number of implant carriers has increased in recent decades, this is an urgent topic in dentistry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. All-oxide ceramic matrix composites

    Författare :Marta-Lena Antti; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Sammanfattning : This work has concerned the preparation and properties of all-oxide composites. The most common examples of such materials are composites of oxide particles in an oxide matrix, continuous oxide fibres in an oxide matrix and layered composites consisting of alternate layers of different oxides.
