  1. 1. Matematiska resonemang i en lärandemiljö med dynamiska matematikprogram

    Författare :Mats Brunström; Kenneth Ruthven; Arne Engström; Anne Berit Fuglestad; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical reasoning; Task design; Dynamic mathematics software; matematiska resonemang; uppgiftsdesign; dynamiska matematikprogram; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : The overall problem that formed the basis for this thesis is that students get limited opportunity to develop their mathematical reasoning ability while, at the same time, there are dynamic mathematics software available which can be used to foster this ability. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to knowledge in this area by focusing on task design in a dynamic software environment and by studying the reasoning that emerges when students work on tasks in such an environment. 3. 3. Stochastic model updating and model selection with application to structural dynamics

    Författare :Majid Khorsand Vakilzadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Finite element model; Bayesian model selection; Bayesian model updating; stochastic simulation; Bootstrapping; Subspace system identification; Uncertainty quantification;

    Sammanfattning : Uncertainty induced by our incomplete state of knowledge about engineering systems and their surrounding environment give rise to challenging problems in the process of building predictive models for the system behavior. One such challenge is the model selection problem, which arises due to the existence of invariably multiple candidate models with different mathematical forms to represent the system behavior, and so there is a need to assess their plausibility based on experimental data. 4. 4. Modelling Sexual Interactions : Sexual behaviour and the spread of sexually transmitted infections on dynamic networks

    Författare :Disa Hansson; Tom Britton; Fredrik Liljeros; KaYin Leung; Janneke Heijne; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical modelling; Sexually transmitted infections; Egocentric network analysis; Dynamic networks; Sexual behaviour; HIV; Statistical inference; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we develop statistical and mathematical models to study different factors of relevance for the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Two special interest groups for STI interventions are considered: sexually active youths and men who have sex with men (MSM). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Synchronous Belt Mechanics and Durability - An Investigation Towards Life Prediction

    Författare :Tomas Johannesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; load distribution model; synchronous; camshaft drives; mathematical modelling; timing; belt; dynamic; wear; simulation; automotive; belt life prediction;

    Sammanfattning : An automotive synchronous belt transmits power and assures accurate timing between the crankshaft and camshafts. The automotive industry is very competitive: there is constant pressure to increase performance and lower costs. LÄS MER
