6. Topology optimization of vehicle body structures : method, theory and applications
Sammanfattning : This dissertation is concerned with topology optimization of vehicle body structures. The first part of this thesis gives a summary of the research project. A design process for complex mechanical structures is presented. This design process includes an optimization step where simplified models are optimized. LÄS MER
7. On Material selection and its consequences in product development
Sammanfattning : Technological development, and increased demands on sustainable solutions, have impacted the development of new products. New products need to be more efficient, and there are increased possibilities for a more diversified and informed decision regarding what materials are used in the product. LÄS MER
8. Simultaneous Topology and Material Optimization of Composite Structures under Uncertainty
Sammanfattning : Composite materials are known to have superior stiffness and strength properties per unit weight compared to metallic materials. These properties and the ability to tailor the mechanical properties of composites is the main motivation for choosing composite materials for structural components. LÄS MER
10. Adhesion and Friction - a Study on Tactility
Sammanfattning : Although we are surrounded by hundreds of surfaces we can still distinguish them from each other simply by touch. The tactile information, interpreted by our brain and given by our fingers, is precise, but to put words to the sensation is very difficult — is it smooth, sticky or harsh? We do not only perceive surfaces differently, we also describe them in our own way. LÄS MER
