16. Visual Analytics for Explainable and Trustworthy Machine Learning
Sammanfattning : The deployment of artificial intelligence solutions and machine learning research has exploded in popularity in recent years, with numerous types of models proposed to interpret and predict patterns and trends in data from diverse disciplines. However, as the complexity of these models grows, it becomes increasingly difficult for users to evaluate and rely on the model results, since their inner workings are mostly hidden in black boxes, which are difficult to trust in critical decision-making scenarios. 17. Computational Nonsmooth Mechanics
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the application of modern methods from the field of mathematical programming for solving certain problems of nonsmooth mechanics. Attention is given to contact problems with friction as well as plasticity problems. LÄS MER
18. Occurrence and ecotoxicity of endocrine disruptor chemicals in aquatic environment and sewage treatment systems
Sammanfattning : The applicability of one selected method for indirect measurement of vitellogenin (Vtg) in fish plasma based on the quantification of alkali-labile phosphates (ALP method) to assess estrogenicity in water was investigated. The ALP method applied in this investigation was originally developed with Carassius carassius (Crucian carps). LÄS MER
19. Model-Integrated Engineering of Smart Energy Distribution Systems
Sammanfattning : Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a method that is used to support analysis, design, independent verification, and validation inherent in the development of software and hardware systems. MBSE applications are present in many areas of our daily lives, including manufacturing, robotics, healthcare, automation, etc. LÄS MER
20. Polygeneration District Heating and Cooling Systems Based on Renewable Resources
Sammanfattning : Traditional district heating (DH) and district heating and cooling (DHC) systems have to address two principal challenges: phase-out of fossil fuels in favor of renewables; and profit instability related to declines in heating and cooling demands along with electricity price fluctuations. These obstacles can be overcome at once through upgrading these systems to a polygeneration concept by means of a retrofitted air-steam gasifier and gas upgrading equipment, enabling the use of renewable feedstocks such as refuse derived fuel (RDF) and municipal solid waste (MSW).
