16. Electron Transport in Quantum Dots Defined in Low-Dimensional Semiconductor Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on electron transport in single and double quantum dots defined in low-dimensional, narrow-band-gap III-V semiconductor materials. Fabrication schemes are presented for defining single and double quantum dots in lateral InGaAs/InP heterostructures, either by a combination of etching and local gating or solely by local top gating. Sammanfattning : Characterization of low-dimensional semiconductor structures is a challenging task. The thesis is based on experiments, using cathodoluminescence (CL) as a tool for characterization. 18. Electronic Structure and Transport in Nanofabricated Low-Dimensional Semiconductor Systems : A theoretical study
Sammanfattning : Systematic studies of the transport properties in one type of low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures, in which the motion of carriers is governed by quantum mechanics, are presented in this thesis. In addition, the electronic states in lowdimensional systems fabricated from GaAs / Al?Ga1-?As heterostructures have been investigated by using both transport methods and the static calculations. 19. Terminating species and Lewis acid-base preference in oxohalides – a new route to low-dimensional compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based upon synthesis and structure determination of new transition metal oxo-halide compounds, which includes p-element cations that have a stereochemically active lone pair. 20. Spectroscopic studies of III-V semiconductors in two, one and zero dimensions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, spectroscopic studies of quantum wells (QWs), quantum wires (QWRs) and quantum dots (QDs) in III-V semiconductors are presented. The electronic structure of these low-dimensional structures have been studied by absorption, photocurrent, electroreflectance, photoluminescence (PL), and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy.
