  1. 16. On the role of bile acids in chronic diarrhoea

    Författare :Kjell-Arne Ung; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diarrhoea; bile acid malabsorption; steatorrhoea; collagenous colitis; lymphocytic colitis; cholestyramine; long-term; histopathology; symptoms; ileal resection;

    Sammanfattning : Bile acids which promote lipid absorption are actively reabsorbed in the distal ileum. Bile acid malabsorption (BAM) and microscopic colitis (lymphocytic and collagenous) are both associated with chronic watery diarrhoea. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Long-term outcome after traumatic brain injury : studies of individuals from northern Sweden

    Författare :Lars Jacobsson; Jörgen Borg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Health Science; Hälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : As traumatic brain injury (TBI) is as one of the major causes of long-term disability, there is an increasing interest in the long-term outcome of TBI. The overall aim of this thesis was to increase our knowledge and understanding of the situation for individuals many years post injury, with regard to demographics, injury characteristics and primary outcome, long-term functioning and disability, health-related quality of life, life satisfaction, self-appraisal of the impact of the TBI and sense of coherence. Sammanfattning : Intraarticular knee injuries, still are a challenge for proper treatment in Sports Medicine today .The increasing life expectancy as well as the patient expectation to maintain a sufficiant physical activity up to high ages gives the topic an increasing publicity. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Visuospatial inattention and processing speed : Predictors of long-term outcome and patterns of change after ischemic stroke

    Författare :Joel Gerafi; Hans Samuelsson; Tom Manly; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed; Consciousness and Cognitive Neuroscience; Kognitiv neurovetenskap och filosofi; visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed;

    Sammanfattning : Impairments of visuospatial attention, language, and processing speed (PS) are common early after stroke and have been associated with unfavorable short-term functional outcomes but little is known about this relationship in the long-term. This thesis investigates 1) the potential importance of visuospatial inattention (VSI) and language impairments (LI) as predictors of functional outcomes 7 years after an ischemic stroke (studies I-II) and 2) presence of lateralized inattention 7 years after stroke and potential predictors of this phenomenon (study III). 5. 20. Long-term outcome of lumbar disc herniation surgery. Studies on different influencing factors

    Författare :Katarina Silverplats; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lumbar disc herniation surgery; clinical outcome; long-term follow-up; scar formation; expectation; satisfaction; predictive factors; health related quality of life HRQoL ;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A majority of patients suffering from sciatica caused by lumbar disc herniation experience a positive natural history and respond well to non-surgical treatment. Patients who fail conservative treatment and are treated surgically have been reported to get satisfactory result in about 70-90% in short-term (1-2 year) follow-up. LÄS MER
