6. Application and Development of Optical Soot Diagnostic Techniques
Sammanfattning : Internal combustion engines (ICE) have been a vital part of society ever since their inception more than a hundred years ago. While initially it seemed as if the replacement of horse and carriage had solved the issue with pollutant emissions, it became evident in the 60’s that emission from ICEs is a major concern. LÄS MER
7. Autoimmunogenetic Aspects of Vaccine-induced Narcolepsy. As part of the AMINA - Autoimmune Multiple Sclerosis and Narcolepsy Study
Sammanfattning : Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is a neurological sleep disorder. The biological cause is the degeneration of hypocretin neurons located in the hypothalamus. It has been suggested that NT1 has an autoimmune pathogenesis, as in most patients, the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-DQB1*06:02:01 is present. LÄS MER
8. On the automorphism group of Danielewski surfaces
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we define the notion of an overshear on a Danielewski surface. We show that the group generated by the overshears is dense (in the compact open topology) in the automorphism group for small degrees of the defining polynomial. It is also shown in the thesis that the overshear group has a structure of an amalgamated product. LÄS MER
9. Semantic Self-monitoring in Speech. Using Real-time Speech Exchange to Investigate the Use of Auditory Feedback for Self-comprehension
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates speech production and self-monitoring by using a newly constructed Real-time Speech Exchange (RSE) system. This system makes it possible to covertly manipulate the auditory feedback that participants receive of their own voice. LÄS MER
10. Evaluation of isovolumic myocardial motions in human subjects using tissue velocity echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Colour-coded tissue velocity imaging (TVE) with Echocardiography is an established method for evaluation of the global cardiac function and of the regional myocardial movements. The TVE-technique allows measurements of velocity and deformation variables from any discrete point in the myocardial wall during the cardiac cycle with high temporal and longitudinal spatial resolution.
