  1. 11. Ultra-intense laser-plasma interaction for applied and fundamental physics

    Författare :Arkady Gonoskov; Mattias Marklund; Gert Brodin; Vladimir Tikhonchuk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ultra-intense laser; femtosecond pulse; plasma; relativistic phenomena; laser-driven acceleration; attosecond pulse generation; radiation reaction; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid progress in ultra-intense laser technology has resulted in intensity levels surpassing 1022 W/cm2, reaching the highest possible density of electromagnetic energy amongst all controlled sources available in the laboratory. During recent decades, fast growth in available intensity has stimulated numerous studies based on the use of high intensity lasers as a unique tool for the initiation of nonlinear behavior in various basic systems: first molecules and atoms, then plasma resulting from the ionization of gases and solids, and, finally, pure vacuum. 2. 12. Reactivity of Metal Clusters with Diatomic Molecules

    Författare :Lotta Holmgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nbn; cluster; reactivity; Rhn; NO; D2; CO; N2; laser vaporization; Wn; Nin; photoionization; time-of-flight mass spectrometer; ionization potential; Cun; O2; Vn;

    Sammanfattning : The reactivity of transition-metal clusters, in the approximate size range 10-60 atoms, with diatomic molecules has been investigated. A pulsed beam of neutral clusters is produced by a laser-vaporization source and passed through a low-pressure reaction cell containing the reactive gas. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Applications of time-dependent configuration-interaction singles for photoelectrons in attosecond and free-electron laser sciences

    Författare :Mattias Bertolino; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser-assisted photoionization; photoelectron interferometry; attosecond physics; free-electron laser; second quantization; time-dependent configuration-interaction singles; surface-flux techniques;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the theoretical treatment of photoelectrons in attosecond and free-electron laser sciences. Wehave implemented methods that extract information on the photoionization process, which we use to investigateinterferometric schemes with particular focus on multiphoton ionization and strong-field effects in attosecondmetrology and coherent control of photoelectrons in free-electron laser science. Sammanfattning :  Mass spectrometry (MS) is an important analytical tool. Its most importantadvantages are sensitivity, resolution, and accurate and precise m/zmeasurements. To get the best results from an instrument, the user musthave knowledge of its limitation and requirements. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Novel clean-up, concentration and laser desorption/ionization strategies for mass spectrometry

    Författare :Mohammadreza Shariatgorji; Leopold Ilag; Juan Astorga-wells; Bernhard Spengler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mass spectrometry; ESI-MS; SALDI-MS; Electrocapture; Sample treatment; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Despite valuable advantages of mass spectrometry (MS) techniques they still have drawbacks that need to be overcome, notably their sensitivity to various kinds of interfering substances and associated difficulties involved in detecting signals from analytes present in trace quantities. Thus, high quality analytical data could be acquired by improving sample pre-treatment techniques and/or ionization methods to increase ionization yields and/or avoid the generation of unwanted ions.
