1. Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Diabetes : Experimental Studies in the Rat
Sammanfattning : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the leading causes of end stage renal failure. An increased susceptibility to renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-injury was found in DM rats. Unilateral renal ischemia for as short as 20 minutes led to an irreversible progressive injury in DM kidneys, whereas the injury in non-DM kidneys was almost reversible. LÄS MER
2. Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury
Sammanfattning : Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a complex phenomenon occuring in response to interruption of the liver’s blood and oxygen supply and the subsequent restoration of blood flow and tissue oxygenation. Techniques to reduce blood loss and other intra-operative manoeuvers during liver resection can cause hepatic I/R injury. LÄS MER
3. Hyperbaric oxygen. Effects on ischemia-reperfusion
Sammanfattning : Treatment with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) is controversial when treating other disorders than decompression sickness. However, HBO2 is a treatment modality that has gained recognition in certain ischemia-reperfusion situations. LÄS MER
4. On leukocyte recruitment in colonic ischemia-reperfusion
Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is a rate-limiting step in inflammatory disease. Tissue accumulation of leukocytes is a multi-step process comprising leukocyte rolling, adhesion and transmigration across the vascular endothelium. LÄS MER
5. Methods to Reduce Liver Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
Sammanfattning : Introduction: During the last two decades, liver surgery has expanded enormously, partly due to improved surgical equipment and techniques as well as new and more powerful chemotherapy agents. As the liver is a very well-vascularized organ, there is an inherent risk of bleeding during liver resection. LÄS MER
