  1. 1. Lithium-ion insertion in a V6O13 cathode

    Författare :Örjan Bergström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; cathode material; vanadium oxide; lithium insertion; in situ X-ray diffraction; deformation electron density refinement; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The transition metal oxide V6O13 is a promising cathode material for high-capacity lithium-polymer batteries in conjunction with a lithium-metal anode. The electro-chemical behaviour of V6O13 has its origin in the ability of the vanadium ions to change their-oxidation states, combined with the open nature of its crystal structure which allows lithium ions to diffuse through it. 2. 2. Iron based Li-ion insertion materials for battery applications

    Författare :Andreas Blidberg; Fredrik Björefors; Mats Johnsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Li-ion; battery; Li2FeP2O7; LiFeSO4F; PEDOT; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Li-ion batteries are currently the most efficient technology available for electrochemical energy storage. The technology has revolutionized the portable electronics market and is becoming a corner stone for large scale applications, such as electric vehicles. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Lignin- and PAN-based carbon fibres as negative electrodes for alkali-ion batteries

    Författare :Kevin Peuvot; Göran Lindbergh; Dan Zenkert; Enn Lust; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hard carbon; lithium-ion batteries; sodium-ion batteries; potassium-ion batteries; lignin-based carbon fibres; PAN-based carbon fibres; free-standing electrodes; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The development of sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) have accelerated since they can now reach similar gravimetric energy densities as lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) but with a lower environmental impact. Hard carbon is the most common negative electrode for SIBs and KIBs and can be made from renewable resources such as lignin. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Challenge of Probing Lithium Insertion Mechanisms in Cathode Materials

    Författare :Jonas Höwing; Torbjörn Gustafsson; Christian Masquelier; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Li-ion battery; cathode materials; insertion mechanism; single-crystal X-ray diffraction; vanadium oxide; lithium iron phosphate; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The Li-ion battery has, from its commercialisation in the early 1990's, now become the most widely used power source for portable low-power electronics: laptops, cellular phones and MP3-players are a few examples. To further develop existing and find new electrode materials for these batteries, it is vital to understand the lithium insertion/extraction mechanisms taking place during battery operation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cooperative Lithium-Ion Insertion Mechanisms in Cathode Materials for Battery Applications

    Författare :Helen Björk; Tsutomo Ohzuku; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Li-ion battery; cathode materials; single-crystal; X-ray diffraction; delithiation; superlattice; phase transformation; charge-ordering; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding lithium-ion insertion/extraction mechanisms in battery electrode materials is of crucial importance in developing new materials with better cycling performance. In this thesis, these mechanisms are probed for two different potential cathode materials by a combination of electrochemical and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. LÄS MER
