  1. 21. Functional residual capacity – development of new monitoring techniques for critically ill patients

    Författare :Cecilia Olegård; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FRC functional residual capacity EELV end-expiratory lung volume volume dependent compliance VDC acute respiratory failure recruitment manouvre PEEP;

    Sammanfattning : Functional residual capacity (FRC) and end-expiratory lung volume (EELV) are important parameters for respiratory monitoring in critically ill adult and paediatric patients. Until now we have lacked clinically useful methods to measure these lung volumes. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Body Composition and Energy Expenditure in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

    Författare :Frode Slinde; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is increasing in Sweden as well as worldwide. The main cause of the disease is cigarette smoking. Almost 50 % of all COPD patients become underweight. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Effects of diet intervention on body composition and ectopic fat accumulation in obese postmenopausal women

    Författare :Caroline Mellberg; Tommy Olsson; Mats Rudling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; obesity; diet intervention; postmenopausal; ectopic fat; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background Obesity is increasing worldwide and is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality. Notably, abdominal (central) obesity carries a high risk of obesity-related diseases, while peripheral fat accumulation can act in a protective manner. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Physical activity and energy expenditure in clinical settings using multisensor activity monitors

    Författare :Daniel Arvidsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physical activity; energy expenditure; children; activity monitors; multisensors; validity; reliability; congenital heart defects; aerobic fitness;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Objective methods need to replace subjective methods for accurate quantification of physical activity. To be used in clinical settings objective methods have to show high reliability, validity and feasibility. The commonly used activity monitors are unable to detect the variety of physical activities. 5. 25. Synthesis and characterisation of Zintl hydrides

    Författare :Thomas Björling; Dag Noréus; Yvonne Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Zintl hydrides; BaGa2H2; SrAl2H2; SrAlSiH; BaAlSiH; CaAlSiH; SrGa2H2; Chemistry; Kemi; Structural Chemistry; strukturkemi;

    Sammanfattning : The synthesis, structural characterisation and the properties of the Zintl hydrides AeE2H2 and AeAlSiH (Ae = Ba, Ca, Sr; E = Al, Ga, In, Si, Zn) are reported. The first hydride in this class of compounds is SrAl2H2 which was discovered under an experiment by Gingl, who hydrogenated SrAl2 at various temperatures. LÄS MER
